With these hard-earned profits, the class is planning the much looked-forward-to Junior-Senior Prom. The work the class has successfully completed with the assistance of their imaginative advisor, Mr. Fogel, is proof of their ability, and has pre- pared them for an even busier year in 1960-61. ,ff 1 JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS: Judy Hamm, Sec-Treas.5 Dick Kjos, Pres., Priscilla Day, Vice-Pres., Mr. Lyle Fogel, Class Advisor. l ll THE JUNIOR CLASS COUN- CIL, Seated: Pauline Nest- ingen, Pat Struxness, Carol Appel. And may Elaine Moffson, chosen MHS Homecoming Queen forever be o joy to her loyol subjects. Queen Elaine Mattson wears a pleased expression as she re- ceives a gift from Junior Class President, Dick Kjos. Royalty Day Highlighted by Coronation As the Concert Band played the traditional MHS homecoming song, You Were Meant For Me, Queen Elaine Mattson, preceded by Honor- ary Princess Polly Tsami, and Princesses Mary Keating, Lana Elliott, Liz Johnson, and Joan Bondly, ascended to a throne flanked by cande- labra. Crowned by Magician Football Co-Captains, Ron Larson and Jim Hauge, Queen Elaine received gifts from the class presidents, Student Council, and Pep Club. The Snake dance was held the evening before the Coronation, and climaxed by a pep rally held in the junior high gymnasium. The Queen and her court were presented dur- ing the homecoming game, which was followed by the Victory Ball. V , b Preceding the princesses and Queen, flower girl, Jane Pringle, and crown bearer, Robert Morey, approach the royal platform. Riding atop a convertible, Queen Elaine smiles for her subiects at the Homecoming Game. Noted for his wit and showmanship, Ralph Charley has a serious side, which is proven by the offices he holds. Ralph is president of both Symphonic Choir and Thespians, and has held homeroom offices for the past three years. A very active member of Playmakers, Ralph often appears on the stage in comedy roles. The Sports Editor of the Search- light, he is also a member of Hi-Y. Serving in the capacity of Search- light Editor-in-Chief, Lois Pommier is also president ofthe Red Cross Council. Lois is known for doing many jobs well, almost simultaneously. Among the many things that Lois keeps track of in her little black book are: Tri-Y, Quill and Scroll, Pep Club, and Playmakers. She is also treasurer of Symphonic Choir, and the scribe of Thespians. Lois has participated in journalistic work during all her Senior High years, acting as business manager for both the High Times, and the Searchlight as a sopho- more and junior. She also represented our school at Girls' State. Senior Representative An Active Role Tom Walstad, a member of the All State Football Team, participates in both football and track. A member of Concert Band of which he is president, Tom plays a bass saxophone. Tom's leadership ability has been proven by the fact that he has served as a homeroom officer, and is a member of Honor Society. Tom takes part in Hi-Y activities, and also attended Boys' State. High Times Editor-in-Chief, Jesslyn Geving, has served her class and school in many ways throughout her years in Minot High. Jesslyn rep- resented her class as president in her sophomore year, and is a member of Honor Society. A reserve cheerleader in her sophomore year, Jesslyn was also a varsity cheerleader as a junior. She also has served Pep Club as a reporter. Active and am- bitious, Jesslyn is a member of Rainbow and Tri-Y and attended Girls' State. Students Play ln Student Life Vice-President of both Concert Band and Symphonic Choir, John Benham, better known as Jack, is Student Di- rector of band as well. He can be seen plgying his baritone horn in band as well as at pep assemblies and games. Jack is not only musically talented instrumentally, but also vocally, as he participates in both Symphonic Choir and Men's Chorus. Popular in his home- room, he also represents them in Stu- dent Council. Jack attended Boys' State. Possessing the ability to be a Student Council officer two years in a row, Karen Cummings is not only Vice-Presi- dent, but also was secretary in her junior year. Karen, who can match her dark good looks with dependability in quantity, has participated in many activities and organizations, which in- clude: Tri-Y, Pep Club, Playmakers, Honor Society, and also A Cappella in her junior and sophomore years. Bob Borkhuis, one of our athletic representa- tive students, is a basketball forward, and partici- pates in football and track. Bob, who is active in classroom discussion, is an honor student, and vice-president of Honor Society. Besides these school activities, he is also a member of Hi-Y, and attended Boys' State. Adell Guidinger, blonde and the possessor of a quick smile, can be summed up as popular and very active in school. Adell served as class presi- dent in her junior year, and having a high scho- lastic average, belongs to Honor Society. She also served as this year's business manager for the High Times. Besides these activities, Adell belongs to Pep Club and Playmakers, and is also an active member of both Tri-Y and Rainbow. Polly Tsami -From Patras, Greece, to MHS This year MHS was pleased and privileged to get acquainted with another foreign student, Polly Tsami from Patras, Greece. Polly attended regular classes and club meet- ings just as any other MHS student. Her American parents, Mr. and Mrs. Les Maupin, have freely and willingly given their time to make this a happy year for Pollv and her many friends. A charming smile and warm, friendly personality are character- istic of Polly. She was given an honor never before bestowed in MHS, that of Honorary Homecoming Princess. f '5 Not only did Polly learn our American ways, she explained many Greek manners and customs to us. Kay Knutson felt a little puzzled about some things, but Polly lightly laughed and went on to elaborate on all the details.
