A com mencement committee, composed of the Senior home- roorns, started work early in December towards de ciding on its theme and later getting up various com mittees needed for the commencement program. The Senior class council had to approve the recommenda tion of this committee, Joint meetings between the Junior and Senior coun- cils were also held to discuss the Prom. The fate and successful completion of the Senior Banquet was also in the hands of the council. Under this group, several dances were sponsored to help finance parts of Senior Week activities, The receipts from the sale of announcements and cards sold to the Senior students through the Senior council added to the class treasury.

Class Hustory Let us uourney back through the years a full twelve years and retrace our steps through school It h d rauned the nught before so the ground was wet But we forlorn begunners trodded along anyway Let us look furst at Washungton School Muckey Bruggs topped the furst day of school off fune by fallung un the mud and runnung home to hus mother The teacher felt sorry for hum but that wasnt half so bad as when she saw a luttle boy comung up the staurs un short pants and knee socks none other than Leon Power Patty McLane Dora Mae Truax and Shurley Scott held a lot of partues then too They unvuted all the boys uncludung Jack Phulluppe Luke any other school they had theur trouble makers aluas Bull Nelson and Darcy Teugen CHavent changed have they'7j Elmer Blelland was the great baseball player Some fune art students de ruved from Washungton though Shelley Straus Gay lan Bergren Ellus Ronshaugan and Muckey Bruggs Over at Roosevelt we fund luttle Bull Anderson lead ung the rhythm band he wull make a fune mauorette some day Bob Fredruckson was the teachers pet all through school but not Bob McPherson Especually after he put a frog un the teachers desk one day The teachers really had a tume of ut un the suxth grade fun began Especually when they would return to fund Wayne Sanstead snoopung an theur desks Oh yes they had lovely gurls too Cheerleaders Vonnue Beaulteu and Dorus McConn used to enchant the boys Seems as though the only quuet boy un the school was Allan Goodwun The newest grade school at that tume was Sunnysude where Joan Metz Cleo Selvog and Delorus Walker were sunflowers un the thurd grade operetta Kenny Flynn dudnt seem to enuoy ut very much though He quut when only un the thurd grade The gurls were all crazy about Allan Urban especually Rachel Langseth he rather luked her too One day un the fourth grade everyone un the class got TOO un spellung that us all but Floradean Mayer leave ut to her to do somethung dufferent Cleo Selvog was quute the faur mauden then Her flame was John Gefroh To top off all the love makung bashful Vurg Farstad promused quuet Janet Gordon he would kuss her for the furst tume when they hut the tenth grade Lets not stop now we re lust gettung started Why theres Kenny Flynn now Hes suttung un the corner wut a rubbon un hus haur He loved to fool around wuth the gurls Yes he was quute the casanova u Central Whos that bug bully beatung up now? Why uts Bob Fueland and Eruc Fugelso Star basketball player was none other than Mac Gumse The socuety gals were Phyllus Schmeuchel Kay Muller and Karen Dunnel Luttle Darlene Pruchard was the soloust McKunley funds the luttle madman Pat Connors chas ung all the gurls Hus favorutes were Karen Garruson Sylvua Brekke and Sue Peterson They seemed to enuoy ut trnmensely The gurl of all the boys dreams was Marlys Halland Gugu Byrnes and Jud McFaIl had a secret love affaur They made a sweet couple Mutt and Jeff Glenn Lund and Boonue Johnson never got along they were known to be lught fungered too The last but not least of the publuc grade schools was Luncoln Marv Thornby was walked home every ay by Snookue Wuddel and Kay Blatsdell poor gurls they never dud succeed un wunnung hum We see that Day was Queen of the May Day operetta un the second grade whule Ron Lundlaugh was the uester Partues were always held at Gooch Cushman s house Where do you thunk all the kuds learned how to dance? The great anumal lover was Chrustue Chrustuanson Januce Jo Doek son and Januce Ellusons names were constantly gettung muxed up so Jo Cthe braunj answered all questuons Duzzy Crutes was the bug wheel He got to be Old Black Joe un the suxth grade Munstrel Show CLucky boy J Prospectuve movue stars of that day were Delorus Sem and Marulyn Knudson Dorus Rosenberger was always very quuet She dudnt have Gary then you The next year we all entered that bug school of Junuor Hugh and there we met many new and unterest ung people Thats where Darlene Machtell met Jo Becker ln the nunth grade the gurls even could wear lupstuckl Don Blore was student councul prexy then The year whuzzed by fast and we found ourselves un Senuor Hugh We really had to buckle down then Most of us dudnt though We surely saw amazung thungs then snakes eatung frogs un Buology class Froshue Day Chour trups basketball trups that furst kuss and many others Our Junuor year was fulled wuth envy of beung Senuors Our Senuor year funally came and we had the opportunuty of choosung Queen Kay and her court We also had the nerve and pruvulege of kussung some of our unmarrued teachers around Chrustmas tume CUnder the mustletoe of coursej Of course some of the gurls were lucky too' Whuzz T2 years and they all brung back pleasant memorues we shall never forget 7 .
