SENIOR TRIP Early Saturday morning, April 12, tWCnty'tW0 wide awake seniors, Miss Farrell, Mrs. Ring, and Mr. Zappala boarded the bus for the New York Central Station. The train left at 6:40 and we ar- rived in New York a little after noon. We had our first experience in a New York taxi cab going from Grand Central Station to the Hotel Victoria. After a very quick lunch, we started our sight seeing tour of Upper and Lower Manhattan. The tour included visits to the Bowery, Chinatown, Cathedral of Saint john the Divine, and past homes of some well-known people. That evening some of us went to the Roxy Theater. The next morning, Easter Sunday, we went to church, some to St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the others to Marble Collegiate Church. That afternoon we went to Rockfeller Observation Roof and for a subway ride. The rest of the afternoon was free. At night we attended a movie and stage performance at Radio City Music Hall. On Monday morning a trip to the Statue of Liberty was scheduled, however, this was cancelled and we took a ride on the Staten Island ferry. After that we went shopping. We' spent that after- noon on the train going to Washington. We arrived at the Hotel Ambassador about 7:00 to find Mr. and Mrs. Rising waiting to greet us. The next morning we went to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing where we saw the making of bills in process. Later we visited the Washington Monument and the Pan American Building. In the afternoon, 'Father Flanagan'L our bus driver, drove us to Mount Vernon where we saw Wash- ington's home on the Potamac and his tomb. On the way back we stopped at the National Airport and Arlington National Cemetery where we saw the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the chang- ing of the guards. We also saw the ampitheater with stone Seats. That night some of us went to The White House and talked to one of the guards. Wednesday moming was a little bit rainy, but it cleared later. We went to the Lincoln Memor- ial and afterwards to the Rock Creek Zoo where. we saw many fine specimens of animals. After a very hasty lunch, we visited the Franciscan Monastary with its replica of the whole life of jesus Christ and many beautiful statues. Thursday morning we had our picture taken in front of the Capitol. Later we went through the Capitol and saw where the Senate and House of Representatives meet. We also saw the Supreme Court Building, Folger Library, and the Congressional Library. That afternoon was open and most of us went shopping. At 4:00 we left for the Pennsylvania Station to board the train for New York. We arrived in New York at about 9:00 and boarded a New York Central train at Grand Central about 11:45. We arrived in Syracuse at 5:03, Friday morning, a very sleepy but happy group of Seniors. We, the members of the senior class, feel very fortunate that we were able to take such a won- derful trip. Not only did we experience the social side of such a trip, but also we derived a great educational value. Many of the buildings we visited and things we saw showed us how great our country is. We realize also that our trip was longer than schools of our size usually have. We are grateful to all those who contributed in any way to its success and especially to Mr. Maxwell who spent many hours in its planning. 21

Rowena Sidoran, Rita Bargabos wills all her shorthand notes for the past year so that she may transcribe them if she can read them. Katy Schaff, janet B. Grant wills the remains of her first job. Sophie Sotir, judy Carney leaves her untiring efforts to try to be a successful cheerleader. joe Ostrowski, Shirley Courcy wills her ability to argue, in the hope that he gets better results than she did. Dodiel..eigh,Catherine Force wills her position in sports, and hopes that she will have as much fun as she did. Marion DeGroff, Marilou Freytag wills her awful habit of reading books in classes. Buzz McLohon, Rita Kippley leaves her Homemaking book so he will be able to leam how to cook before duck season. Beverly Ferstler, Mary Vona wills her job as secretary of the Senior Class, and any other odd jobs. Phyllis Rolfe, Lucy Steele leaves any or all of her language books. Dick Moynihan, jack Barrett leaves his job in the cafeteria. Ed Kalin, jerry Carhart wills his basketball ability in the hope that Ed will use it. Bob Leo, Bernard Gallery leaves all of his prize excuses and hopes that they will serve him as well. joan LaHart, joe Gorgoni leaves his barber's business. jerry Rolfe, Tom jones leaves about five inches of his height. Bob Burchard, Bob Mekkelson leaves his musical ability. Ed Coon, Stanley Nash wills his place in Ag. any ambitious junior girl, Midge Sternberg wills her sewing ability. the entire junior Class, Doug Philo leaves his literary genius. Marge McAleese, Leonard Ring wills his car so she won't have to walk to school. any tardy junior boy, George Spendle wills all his passes, Charles Willey, Dana Wells wills a trip to Lyons. Ed Slezak, Stuart Wilhoite leaves his motorcycle, and hopes that Ed will make good use of it. jerry Campbell, Charles Witt wills his ability to talk. any History student, Ed Sutfin leaves his ability to sleep. any toothless junior, Bernard Gerthoffer leaves his front teeth.
