Get High On Life ttGet high on life, that's what Mary Lou Jensens chemical awareness program is about. Mary Lou started on oftercore support group 0 few years ago. Aftercore was for kids who either wanted to stay straight or who had been to treatment and needed someplace to go for support. This group offered kids the chance to talk about problems and offered alternatives to going out and get- ting drunk or high. There were three other types of groups: preven- tion, concerned persons, and intervention. Pre- vention's goal was to provide support for family, school, and personal concerns. Concerned per- son's helped people who were worried about others. Intervention was for those who got into some kind of trouble and need help. These groups were supplied so that the kids could be aware of chemical use and what they could do about it. 27

lmamon 2r: crosmaonl See the world! Expand your hori- zon's! Travel! Adventure! All these are things that people think of when they think of traveling abroad and exchange programs. It's all that, and a lot more too. It's about friendship and having a great time in a country that you soon learn to love. The students here have all traveled millions of miles to .come home! This year we have students in our school that come from Sweden, Germany, France, Panama, Belgium, Den- mark and Finland. From all these different countries and different lands they come together to call MHS their home. They have brought some very special things with them for all of us here at MHS. With their love of fun to their joy of learning everything they can about their new country and school, they add a very special dimension to our school. TOP LEFT: Guillame! Let Malta go!
