Likewise, the higher algebra and chemistry classes spent their time analyzing problems and synthesizing materials. The idea of the third dimension in solid geometry was conveyed through models. In physics, classes surveyed mathematics, heat, and light. Many erasers were used in math and physical science when figures didn't balance. Mildred Nelson » t • Arraugh! This sound coming from man began the form of communication known as the languages. As the languages developed, music and art came into existence. Both of these were used in the language department to study foreign languages. Art students have drawn almost ever)' corner in the building and many products of their art have l ecn seen displayed throughout the halls. Many hours of enjoyment have come from both the band and the chorus at concerts and sports activities. Music and art were also found in the commercial rooms. Fine art was displayed in the notebooks of students taking shorthand and transcription. With the approach of winter basketballs were heard pounding the floor. Spring brought with it tennis and baseball. Shop classes were busy producing useful and decorative articles for their homes while learning skills. The home economics classes also learned home skills of canning, dressmaking, and meal planning.
