Because We feel that we owe much to those who have made this school possible, we dedicate the first Voyageur to the taxpayers, workmen, architects, schoolboard, and faculty. The Minnetonka School District 7 was organized March 15, 1949, by a vote of the people, 1934 votes against 279. Six school districts complete this merger (Clear Springs, Deephaven, Excelsior, Groveland, Minnewashta and Tonka Bay). The site for the new Minnetonka Senior High School was chosen and purchased on October 11, 1949. Work began on this new high school on April 11, 1950. The first student body occupied the building September 1, 1952. This is the beginning of a great new era. The students who pass through 'Tonka's halls during the following years will, we are sure, come to love and appreciate this school and will make their years at Minnetonka a high point in their lives. , 2
