.. . .... , ..... ..3 ,,,,,, ,4 .. - .........l.2,3.4 ......,...1.2.3,4 l ......... .2.3 l .......... 3 Class History As a few of us were walkmg past the old school we notzced what a dxlapzdated condztron It was In wrth zts broken wmdows and mxsslng brlcks Recalling our days as f1rst graders w remembered havmg Miss Wh1ttaker for our teacher She then had for her class Beverly Bartelt Patsy Woxtas Janice Bach Catharme Stenzel Mavis Jacobsen Mlldred Stenzel Carol Sonnek Jack Latourelle Karen Tolzmann John Utzka Sharon Kluender Dav1d Evan Norma Krohnberg and Vzolet Leesch In second grade Patsy and John moved away wh1le Beverly declded she lzked the frrst grade so well that she stayed another year We weren t at a complete loss because Duane Schroeder jolned our group and Miss Benda then had a class of twelve W1th the except1on of Duane Schroeder who moved away our class remamed the same m the thzrd grade We then had the pleasure of havmg Mlss Doherty for our teacher Durmg the fourth grade our teacher remaxned the same but Berme Anderson and Wanzta Harrzs declded to jom our class In 1947 Mmss Malherzk taught our brxllrant class Wamta Harms had left our lzttle group but Shzrley Roessler jomed us whxch brought our enrollment to thxrteen Vxolet Leesch and Bernxe Anderson decxded to further thelr educatron elsewhere whlle Warren Schueneman and Patty Bartlett declded Mmnesota Lake was the school for them Miss Ehlerrnger was our s1xth grade teacher then On we moved to the seventh grade where we gained Dean and Dlanne Adams Poor Mrs Cromn had qulte a t1me wxth us that year The ezghth grade was a very eventful year for us for we had our fxrst man teacher r Erdahl Patty Bartlett had moved to Easton but Agnes Stencel got szck of country school and joxned our happy throng We were f1fteen proud ezghth graders when we marched up for our grade school dlplomas On a bnght and peaceful September mormng 1n 1951 we entered as Freshmen mto that splendld 1.nst1tut1on of learnmg For the f1rst trme we ascended the escalator to the second floor Our class reached 1ts peak that year wxth a total of twenty n1ne members L1l1.ah Culbertson Phyllzs Evenson Davld Grunzke Emrl Hueper Shxrley Ihle, David Kam Roy Kremer Jamce Latusek Eileen Merlcle B1llOsdoba Darlene Schroeder Ambrose Sonnek B111 Werner and Kenneth Schroeder came from country school to Jozn us After wandermg around from room to room for several days tryzng to learn what subjects to pursue we set tled down to busxness some well satlsfled w1th condxtzons and others feeling sorry that they had ever left the exghth grade We especzally remembered our Enghsh class that year and the teacher who taught us so much With what a dzfferent axm we entered as proud dommeermg Sophomores ln companson to the preceedzng year when we entered as humble and t1m1d Freshmen We had one new member tlus year Mrlton Olson wmch brought our total to an even thirty Many were the trrumphs we won as Junxors ln class work and rn athletlcs Cathanne left us to become Mrs Gary Erdner Dean Adams left to attend Waseca Farm School David Kam went to Bethany and Mxlton decxded to quxt school but Violet Davld Rllea and Mary Jo Bach jomed us Thxs was a very busy year for us for the prom took much work and prep aratron We had loads of fun makmg arrangements for our theme Onental Gardens Thls was also the year we put on Arsen1c and Old Lace I don't thmk anyone will forget all the trouble we had trymg to fmd those costumes At last we reached our Semor year and entered mto a brand new school Now the world seemed to expand and our greatness enlarged m our own estrmataon We glanced back on the years when we were just the spokes that made us the blg wheel Shirley Khle left us to attend Elmore I-hgh School Norma Krohnberg moved to Pemberton Kenny Schroeder decrded to remain a .Tumor for another year and Janxce Latusek became'Mrs Louis Klocek Our graduation class now conslsts of twenty f1ve mtellrgent Senxors Dxanne Adams Janmce Bach Lxlmh Culbertson Davxd Evan Elame Evan Phyllis Evenson Davzd Grunzke Emxl l-lueper Roy Kremer Exleen Merxcle Jack Latourelle Mavis Jacobsen B111 Osdoba Shzrley Roessler Mary Jo Bach Vxolet Leesch, Darlene Schroeder Warren Schueneman Ambrose Slmnek Carole Sonnek Agnes Stenzel Mrldred Stenzel Karen Tolzmann Davzd Rrlea and Bill Werner For twelve years we have eaten the fruit of knowledge and we are about to go out rn the wlde world and take our places There were many bad marks and plenty of tough exams but our school days weren t as bad as they seemed at txmes and they wxll be the most memorable days of our hves 0 1 . 1 9 , . 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 , 1 I 1 1 I . . 1 1 . I - - I ll 9 -4 vl l ll l . s . , - , , Prophecy N1neteen SlXty five just think ten years ago I graduated from M1nn Lake Hlgh Now look at me the w1fe of Marlon Brando and l1v1ng 1n Cal1forn1a' Would you ever have believed 1t'P Today 18 the day of the Rose Bowl game UCLA plays Mmnesota My old classmate B111 Osdoba 18 the head coach for the Gophers Ithmk I 11 go to the game, lately Ive been wonder1ng about my fellow classmates Maybe B111 knows how some of them made out After the game wh1ch Minnesota won of course B111 and hls wife Mary Ann invited the Brandos to d1nner and dancing at C1ro s in Hollvwood That nxght when I got home I really had mixed emotions I was really surprised to find out how well some of the 55 Senxors are doing Do you remember how shy and qu1et l1ttle L111ah was? I bet you wouldn t even recogmze her now She was the sports announcer at the game That night at CITO s I was quiet shocked to see another of my classmates We were all enjoymg the floor show, when Inot1ced a shapely figure approaching When she came a little closer I recognized M11dred Stenzel I soon d1scovered that she was a cigarette g1rl and had come to Hollywood hop1ng to get 1nto the movies She had already changed her name to Holly Wood I wonder what Mr Stpffer 18 doxng for a baby s1ster B111 told me that his pal .Tack Latourelle has a coast to coast transport w1th h1s own semi I tho t that that Chevy was on 1tS last leg ten years ago I found out later that It wasn t really a transport actually all he does 18 pick up women h1tch h1kers I was quite disappointed when B111 told me that Mary Jo Bach has resigned her position as Foreign Ambassador to Russ1a, but elated when he also told me that Ela1ne Evan IS one of the best lady wrestlers of today Of course you all know how Dave E made out he's the famous w1ld game hunter He recently returned from a huntmg tr1p 1n darkest Africa where It 1sn t so dark any more Karen Tolzmann 18 now the top model for the Powers Model Agency I knew she was saving all that charm and po1se for something Darlene S has really made a name for herself with the Sadler Wells Ballet Company I also found out that Dave R IS the official tester of mattresses at Macy s 1n New York Janice Bach was always the lucky one of our class now she 18 a 11pst1ck tester for You all remember Emil I learned that he was recently appo1nted Chief of POIICC in Minnesota Lake V1olet met up with one of those things you call a Single man You f1gure out the rest If you don't know how Eileen M 18 I ll g1Ve you a short sketch Her daily chores 1n clude ten l1ttle boys and girls and her husband Dr Richard Hankerson Warren Schueneman has finally accomplished what he has always wanted He's the star of the Ice Foll1es I hear that more women flock to see h1m than L1berace D1anne Adams bra1ns and beauty have really paid off 1f B111 remembers r1ght she s model1ng nylons for .T C Penney and Company Mav1s Jacobsen has been gxven the most envied Job 1n all the career g1rl s world she's floor lady at Mussers Agg1e has her own tax1 cab company with all lady drivers Phyll1s Evenson 18 one of her best You all know It s a proven fact today that women are better drivers than men Busy GITIS Husky and Handsome Dave Grunzke 18 on Telev1s1on I understand that he does commerc1als blowing bubbles for Triple Bubble bubble gum Sh1rley Roessler 18 on TV too she works for .Tack1e Gleason fscrubbmg floors after the program Ambrose Sonnek has been doing fairly well for h1mself He now owns a 40 000 acre ranch at Sonnek Texas the cap1tal of the state Actually that 1sn't the half of It he owns Texas I musn't forget B111 Werner Maybe you won't bel1eve It but B111 18 the first No l P1ccolo player with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra I thought the only kllld of notes he knew anything about were the ones he passed to Karen across the aisle You can see why I went home w1th m1xed emot1ons that night but I was grateful to B111 for havmg left me with an up to date report of the class of '55 Carole Brando QSonnek . . .
