Inexperience at several pisitions hurt early in the year against teams such as, Hills-Beaver Creek, Adrian and other conference teams. Also injuries at other key positions played important roles and we really could have used the people that were originally assigned to those position. Spirit and determination was always high with an idea that we were now capable than what we had shown. 2 Top Left: Ron Fox gains yardage. Bottom Left: Varsity, Row 1; S. Engels, D. Fier, S. This year we started out slow against such teams as Tyler and Tracy, because of a lack of experience in playing together. As the season continued, we pro- gressed onto a pretty good team that was well balanced with eight or nine players that played equally as well together no matter who was playing the position. We ended up third in the conference behind Lynd and Rus- sell and second in the district with a loss to Tracy in the Championship game. With Home- coming being September 15, preparations for the big event had to begin early. With 1 'Pack the Patriots'' depicted on our 1978 Homecoming buttons, the football players practiced hard to fulfill tiie meaning of this slogan. Each class then chose their attendants. The band prepared for their forthcoming perfor- mances at the pepfest, the parade, and the game. Despite the shortness of time to prepare, everything came together at the pepfest on Thursday evening as shown here. TEAR ALONG The Fall Play for this year was entitled Tear Along the Dotted Line. It was a funny, sad com- edy set in a run-down apartment; Collegetown U.S.A. The play revolves around two girls start- ing college and their unique parental problems. Judy reveals her problem in a ' 'indifferent1' fa- ther. Stephanie, on the other hand, has a mother who tries to run every detail of her life. This leads to uproarious situations as well as intelli- gent awareness of two girls of maturity. School was called off for the day, leaving many hearts heavy. Students anxiously waited to see if our festivities would be held that night. Finally, the weather improved and the go ahead was given. The game between the Tyler Danes and the Minneota Vikings was on. During the halftime of the A game Mary Jo Stassen and Steve Atwood were crowned as the King and queen of the Snoball Royalty. Joined there by her servant Cariotta who, because of supernatural powers, is able to hear music that surrounds the baby and who when discovered gives her life so that the mother and child might live.
