One of these requests was to have a Student Government Day in which the students took on the responsibilities of the teacher in the classroom. The offices of Superinten- dent and Principal were also represented by students. Other suggestions were brought to the attention of the Council including the possibility of hanging a curtain in the lounge to separate the weight machine from the lounge area. A new Viking head was painted on a wall in the lounge, and the possibility of having a foosball table put in for the student's enjoyment was also con- sidered. I LITTLE BIT MORE A Little Bit More - and then some - was the amount of energy and cooperation needed to put the Viking Ventures yearbook together. Once again, popular song titles from 1976-'77 were used for headings in the hope that they would bring back fond memories in future years. Two new features were added to this year's publication. Advertise- ments can be found on pages 84-85 and a list of our patrons may be located on page 86. We are very grateful to the business people for their considera- tion and cooperation in this, our first business ven- ture . The Concert Choir began the hectic sched- ule of events by performing at the Veterans Day Program. As Christmas approached, the Madrigals and Glee Club found themselves in demand throughout the community. Closing out 1976, all three groups performed in the winter concert, It's Time For a Happy Song . The early months of 1977 found the Concert Choir preparing a rock cantata called The Creation along with several other numbers that centered around the Easter story. These ,rFeel the Spir- it concerts were performed at the St. Leo, St. Lucas, St. Edward's, and Hope Lutheran Churches. Reverend Fraser Spence Wayne Kompelien On the night of April 29, 1977, the Senior class performed Hartzell Spence's, 1 'One Foot In Heaven''. The play dealt with the hardships that were encountered by the Spence family when the moved into the new parsonage. The personality traits of the ' 'good Christians'' in the parish, clashed with the family's when a friendship was formed between a Mexican girl, and the Reverend Spence's daughter. Peace was established when the Reverend's son quoted one of Bishop Sherwood's sermons to them. From that point on, the Spence family gained high standings with the par- ish members. 48 FAR LEFT: Hope Spence (Julie Welsh) was welcomed by a host of town battleaxes . Tom Anderson displayed his talents by singing the songs, After the Lovin' and Annie's Song . After the grand march, everyone danced to the music of Crystal Legend . Also available were foosball, ping-pong, cards, and a Pink Pan- ther series. Everyone worked up a big appetite, so some of the Junior Mothers made a midnight snack of pop and pizza.
