ROYALTY ’74 1974 Homecoming Royalty: Seniors: Helen Traen, Ken Amundson, Andrea Traen, Jim Opdahl, Mary Sanow, Kurt Pesch, Queen Judy Hamerlinck, Brian Boe, Princess Phyllis Downing, and Jim Christianson; Juniors: Suzy Boerboom, and John Pennings; Sophomores: Cheryl Fier, and Dennis Buysse; Freshmen: Jody Peterson, and Paul Erickson. RIGHT: Homecoming '74 saw the new- ly organized Beaver Patrol sponsor their first event of the year—the Miss Star Conference pageant. The follow- ing lovely young ladies(?) were in- volved in the contest: Denise Obese (Dennis Stocks) of Fulda, Felicia Hot Body (Earl Skaar) of Minneota, Eunice Dingleballs (Chris Drown) of Hills- Beaver Creek, Eliza Lipinski (Jim Tillemans) of Ivanhoe, and Donna Do That (Daryl Gillund) of Tyler. This exciting moment was captured just as Felicia Hot Body was named the first Miss Star Conference. (Jasper was not present because their girls were playing football.)

The date was September 18, 1974. The setting was a chilly, autumn day. The occasion— Homecoming 1974. Activities began ear- ly with float plans being made and carried out. Classes chose attendants and the Queen candidates, as the excitement contin- ued to grow. Thursday evening proved to be a thrilling one with many fun events well planned. The Pep Club came through in true form by proving that they could withstand the pressures put on them by the Beaver Patrol during a yelling contest. Then, after watch- ing some hilarious skits, Tim Gossen broke the ten- sion by announcing the royalty. Joy erupted with- in the crowded gymnasium when Judy Hamerlinck was crowned the 1974 Home- coming Queen. Rain threatened the Friday parade, but didn't stop it. Game time found a fired up Viking team losing to a tough Jasper team. Dead Chicken Woof provided entertainment for the dance that followed. Homecom- ing '74—a date to remember.
