A CTI VITIE HOMECOMING 1964 Friday, October 16, was a triumphant day for the students of MHS. It was Homecoming Day, featuring the traditional Homecoming parade, the queen coronation, and, of course, the climatic football game. The parade was led by the band which was followed by the queen candidates, attendants, and the various class and organization floats. Queen Jeanne was crowned during the half of the Viking-Dane game by co-captains Ron DeSmet and Bobjerzak. The Vikings up-ended the Danes 30-13 in a most interesting and exciting football game. ATTENDANTS: Linda Merritt, junior, Cheryl Traen, freshman, Karen Gossen, sophomore. PARADE HIGHLIGHTS STA TERS MA GAMINE CAPTAINS ALTERNATES: J. Flemming, A. Buysse C. Lowry, Gen. Man. , B. Parisian beauty was well brought out in the colors of red, pink, white, and silver. The sidewalk cafe with its beautiful green plants was the main attraction. The painting of the Eiffel Tower put everyone in a Parisian mood. Following tradition, a banquet was held previous to the dance. The Parisian theme and the colors previously mentioned were carried out in the dining room with table settings consisting of red and pink memory booklets and placecards with napkins to match. The center peices consisted of red roses. Along with the banquet, speeches were given by Mr. Solheim, Mr. Olson, and the junior and sen- ior class presidents. The famous Arch of Triumph provided a setting on the stage for the Balladiers, a band from Fulda. The dance began with the grand march led by the junior and senior officers. A post-prom party was held at the Legion Hall. A THLETICS FIRST ROW: G. Lindall, R. Jackson, C. Wigton, J. Flemming, R. Anderson, D. Fox, C. Eastwold, L. Lawrence, B. Wigness. SECOND ROW: R. SQUAD BASKETBALL Coach Lasley The 64-65 A squad basketball team compiled a good season's record by using the policy of hustle, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Although the Viking cagers were not the tallest team in the conference, according to Coach Lasley their hustle and determination were positive factors in their victories. Even though six senior netters are not returning for the 65-66 season, the prospects look good for next year. sums MOULD V 01 1 ROW 1: T. Dero, G. Jerzak, T. Christianson, J. Fier, M. Jasperson, B. The band performs before and during the half-time of football and basketball games. They also find themselves getting into shape in a hurry to take part in the Homecoming activities and to present a fine half-time show at the Homecoming game. Besides practicing their music for pep fests, games, and special school activities, the band must prepare for the Christmas and Spring Concerts. Summertime finds the band busy marching in parades and presenting a con- cert every Friday night for the public at Memorial Park. Hats off to the members of the MHS Band who have done an excellent job of per- forming on many occasions. 44 ROW ONE: L. Josefson, L. Okrina, J. Tillemans, L. Klaassen, A. Klaassen, S. Sorensen, J.
