Text from Pages 1 - 54 of the 1964 volume:

DEDICATION During the seven years in which Mr. Garry has been at Minneota High, he has not only won the admiration and friendship of many students and local people, but has also drawn up a long list of achievements in his field. He has done an excellent job in the classroom, teaching Agriculture, Farm Mechanics, and organizing adult classes each year. He is responsible for organizing the local FFA chapter--a chapter which has an admirable record. Our FFA has won several state awards. Mr. Garry has served as District FFA advisor for two years, and also on the State FFA Foundation Board for two years. Mr. Garry has now ac- cepted a position as Agricultural Representative at the First State Bank of Minneota. We are sure that he will be a credit to their staff, as he has been to our school. It is for these reasons that the Minn-Hi-Ann Staff wishes to dedicate its 1964 annual to Mr. Garry. The annual staff and the students of MHS wish to say to you, Mr. Garry, what has been written in so many annuals before-- The best of luck in everything to a wonderful person. MR. Ham- pered by the injury of three starters, the team did not play up to their expectations. With eleven letter-men returning next year, we should have quite an experienced team. Bob Jerzak and Ron DeSmet were chosen to lead the team in 64 . With veterans at almost every position, Minn- eota will be tough to beat. To the team of 64 ----- Good Luck! ! KNEELING: D. Or- sen, D. Vande Putte, J. Flemming. BASKETBALL The Viking's 63-64 cage team had quite a fair season, ending with a 10-8 record, which placed them third in the Camden Conference. Led by co- captains Dick and Larry, the Vikings played a con- sistent game. The most startling game of the season was when the Vikings surprised Lake Benton, top team in the conference, with a 71-66 overtime vic- tory. Losing the co-captains, the Vikings will have a veteran team returning next year. The boys have experience and ability to go far, as we expect they will. To Coach Lasley and the team of 63-64 we wish you the best of luck. Co-captains D. Borson, L. Gullickson; Coach Lasley, Stu. Manager, D. Leibfried. 5 KNEELING: B. Anderson, G. Jerzak, D. B” SQUAD BASKETBALL Considering their tough competition, the '63-64' B bas- ketball squad did quite well. The club ended up with a 5-13 record. This record does not show everything that counts, however, because the boys hustled even when they were behind, and that's what makes a team. Keep up the good work, boys, and good luck next year! Senior Cheerleaders Junior Cheerleaders The cheerleaders for the Junior High team are Debbie Christianson, Lois Gudmundson, and Susan Obe. S3I1IAI1DV QUEEN BARB SENIOR CANDIDATES: Diane Pohlen, Shirley Christianson, Sharilyn Lawrence. ATTENDANTS: Lois Thostenson, Jeanne Tillemans, Audrey Traen. On a sunny October afternoon, the band led the traditional Homecoming parade through the streets of Minneota. The four queen candidates were followed by the senior float and each of the respective class floats were preceded by their attendants. The last unit was a float spon- sored by the local FFA chapter. The winning float was constructed by the sophomore class. HOMECOMING 1963 Seniors Sophomores Juniors Freshmans ROW ONE: B. Okrina, K. Klein, J. DeCock, S. Jelen, C. Sumerfelt, Y. Buretta, S. The banquet was followed with various short speeches given by Mr. Solheim, and the junior and senior class presidents. The dance was opened with the grand march led by the jun- ior and senior class presidents, and their dates. Live music was furnished by the Jericos , a group from Sioux Falls.
