Second Row: Allen Christenson, Don Smishek, Gilbert Regnier, Charles Dirckx, Dick Johnson. Minneota's basketball season started out with a defeat by Marshall. The next three games were lost by Mlnneota and the following game brought a victory over Hendricks. The rest of the season brought defeats and victories with very close scoring. As an article said in the Minneapolis Sunday paper that Minneota has a gray-haired coach. This is true because Mlnneota Just couldn't stop the opposing team from making the last and winning basket. Minneota in their first game of the tournaments played Tyler. After a hard game played by both teams, Minneota was defeated by a score of Tyler 63, Minneota ol. Minneota had a 3even point lead over Tyler in the last two and one half minutes to play. Tyler gradually raised their score and in the last few seconds to play they had a two point lead. Minneota received the ball, a shot was taken and the ball rolled around the rim and dropped out and the buzzer rang ending the game. In our last game we were de- feated by Ivanhoe. All in all Minneota won seven games and lost twelve. Even though we lost more games than we won we were only outscored by thirteen points during the season. As you can see, it isn't always the amount of victories obtained that makeja successful season.
