Carrie Hogstrom Students Begin to Shine A diamond Is made Into Its final rough shape by a process called bruting. In this process one diamond Is pressed against the diamond to be cut as It revolves in a lathe. At Minnehaha the bruting process occurred between students as they interacted in classes, athletics, and extracurricular activities. The facets of friendship, responsibility, faith, and leadership began to take shape. As the students put these characteristics Into practice, the facets became polished and smooth. Many students agreed that their friends at Minnehaha have changed them. My friends have encouraged me to look at things in a singular way, instead of merely taking the accepted view,” said Kristin Hofer (12). Dave Mundt (12) said, They have changed my thinking about cliques and social groups. After seven years here, I would rather be called different than ‘one of the boys’.” Friends played a major role In the bruting process as they gave me a better attitude towards school said Tim Funk (11). Cause Student Growth Student activities created some facets of the school diamond. Students expanded their abilities by making decisions, working behind the scenes, stretching their faith, performing for their friends and sharing their deepest concerns and delights. Participating in activities made life hectic said Shana Brooks (10). However, it gave Shannon Becker (12) good, practical experience in dealing with a wide variety of people and Tara Schneider (9) a sense of responsibility. Despite the busyness of being in activities, I guess sometimes your priorities greatly influence what you choose to do, said Loren Hofer (10). 6 Activities Division
