Changes Create Diamonds Diamonds in the rough are diamonds in the ground. Minnehaha students were also diamonds in the rough. The potential and value were there, but not complete, cut or polished. Minnehaha’s seventy-fifth year, its diamond anniversary, gave students the opportunity to eliminate imperfections in themselves. Students felt pressures of change as a stricter attendance policy and, stronger emphasis on spiritual life came into effect. As part of the spiritual emphasis, the west stage was remodeled into a worship center. A remodeled science lab ended bussing to South Campus for chemistry and physics. Two social studies classes and an advanced composition class were added. Enrollment continued to drop. Some teachers were reassigned and Spanish, sacred studies, and industrial arts each received a new teacher. Minneapolis students were bussed free of charge for the first time. As a result, Minneapolis students who drove were not issued parking stickers. Sarah Sunderland Rev. D. Bergstrom Amy Johnson (12) isn’t quite ready for school.
