A ; Afa Students Deal With Pressure As students worked on homework, studied for tests, practiced music, looked up answers and sharpened their pencils, the facets of the academic diamond became smoother. Preparing their assignments for classes, students prepared themselves for the future. The pressures of “life can’t be much worse” than high school said Bryan Lloyd (12). German French Classes Require Work Before Play With help from Carol Fruleux, the first Amity aide from northern France, French students studied and had fun with French culture. One fun thing they did was to have hat day. Girls made hats and boys made cards for the girls. First and second year students could go to French camp, third and fourth year students could go to a French dinner at the Hotel Sofitel. German classes lost one of their teachers through declining enrollment (the school had fifty few students than the previous year) so Herr Kauls taught all the German classes. Students performed skits, sang, played games and yodelled. German was hard work, but it was fun! said Erik Jorgenson (10).
