Joy Westberg Rev. Forrest Dahl emphasises a point in Life of Christ the sophomore Bible class. Left: Lynn Schelgren, Julie Jensen, and Craig Pinley of Covenant Heartsong sing in convocation as part of the weeks of focus on Covenant tradition. Below left: Dan Abbott of Covenant Heartsong accompanies his group on the bass guitar. Puppetry was also part of the performance. Rev. Dan Bergstrom speaks on Covenant history. The cross worship background was added as a worship enhancer. Mr. Wendell Carlaon Spiritual Life Emphasized A new emphasis on spiritual activity caused change in convocations, homeroom and class chapel. Students faced the west stage in convocation and the Singers sat up front in their own homeroom. The welcoming chimes were gone and convocation was fifteen minutes shorter. “Different Traditions in the Church was the year-long theme for convocations. In homerooms, teachers had the option of using a common devotional guide put out by Rev. Dan Bergstrom. The ninth and tenth grades met on Mondays in the gym and the eleventh and twelfth grades met on Wednesdays in the gym. The whole school met together on Thursdays. A project for senior class community service met after school on Wednesdays to learn how to be clowns in a course set up by Amy Simson (12) and Rev. Dan Bergstrom. Rev. Dave Kersten spoke to Minnehaha’s North Campus during Spiritual Life Week, November 2 to November 6 on the theme A Matter of the Heart, which stressed participating in the worship experience. Larson Studios Crews Work Behind Scenes The Sound and Light Crew and Audio Visual assitants contributed to the polished appearance and instruction in numerous areas of the school. The Sound and Light Crew, advised by Mrs. Bonnie Morris, was a junior senior class which met after school and during free hours. Members put in many hours of repairing equipment, making sure things were put away and meeting teacher requests for special projects such as recording programs on the video cassette recorder. They provided videotapes of special events including sports and pep fests. During chapels and special convoca- tions they controlled lights and microphones. Being on Sound and Light Crew did have its rewards. They made trips to a live broadcast of the 10 P.M. news at KSTP, to Prince s recording studio. PAISLY PARK, to the Production Department at the Ordway Theater in St. Paul, to channel 11 television station KARE (the group's favorite t.v. station), and to KTIS radio station at Northwestern College in Roseville. Audio Visual assistants helped move VCR equipment up and down the stairs before and after school. OME OF Th Joy West berg 16 Sound CLIght AV
