I! Energy - a definitely abundant commodity in any high school, ours being no exception Fast-paced, unbelievably busy, never-ending activity - these are the words that describe a typical high-school student. Each of us is given the need for activity, the desire to accomplish and be doing something, yet we ail burn off this energy in different ways. Our coaches here at Minnehaha are grateful that athletics are one way we expend our energy. Approximately one third of our students go out for a sport for at least one of the three seasons Only an athlete can describe the feeling of emotional and physical release when the mind and body have been extended to their full capacity Athletics are a great way of letting off tension and excess energy. Sports fans share in this release by cheering and getting involved in the game Music is another channel for the energy of Academians. Sixty per cent of our studetns are involved in either choir, band, or orchestra. Active use of musical talent not only benefits us all when we listen to it, but learning and executing a challenging piece of music gives one a feeling of accomplishment We all release energy in much less structured w-ays. These include hobbies, jobs, various clubs and activities, even school work. Life would be very difficult if we couldn't release our energies with occasional screams, torrents of tears, or fits of laughing. How many of us have never had the urge to just run somewhere or hit a pillow ' We may not understand where all our energy comes from, but we all have to get rid of it some way. The different ways we do make us the individuals we are and provide the diversity that makes life so interesting. 2
