This year a new language club joined the ranks in our international soccer tournament. The Swedes proved their expertise by defeating not only the Spaniards and the French, but also the consistently strong Germans. December 12 marked the Santa Lucia celebration at school. Honored with the Lucia crown this year was Lisa Skoglund. Her attendants were Beth Wilson, Ann johnson, Darlyce Jones, and Jean Johnson. Activities were always exciting ranging from Lucia to the movie Heaven Can Wait . Several of the students are planning a trip to Sweden in the summer of 1981, guided by Fru Frank. 21

An active German Club started off the year with a successful Okto-berfest lnitiation dinner. New students survived such tortures as flour in the face and newspaper baton fights to become official Deutsche Klub members. An evening ins Kino was the next activity for the enthusiastic Germans. They munched popcorn while watching the film Here Comes Mr. Jordan. December 5 was the date for the annual St. Nikolas Party where gifts were exchanged, monsters created, and German Christmas songs sung. An indoor soccer game, a Fasch-ingsball with folk-gaming and a spring picnic were also part of the year's activities. This year's German Day was held on March 17th. The senior German students presented a special convocation and then all the students proceeded to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater for lunch and to present their skits. 20

Like Madame Jonannessen says, On mange bien en France et en 307. The French Club membership grew from past years, more than likely because of the good food. It seems as if the French language student activities always involve food. In the fall the French Club ran the concession stand during sports events. They took a special trip to L'Hotel de France for breakfast. March third was French day and Mardi Gras. French students beat the German students in the language soccer tournament. Ce qui est bon, est francais! (Whatever is good is French). 22
