We will always remember her tranquility of spirit, her genuine interest and concern for other people, and the |oyous beauty of her life. Ah ... that magic number. Now we qualified for the driver's licence! As sophomores we could qualify for a lot more: B-squad football and basketball and for the girls there was volleyball and B-squad cheerleading. We were really stepping up in our involvement in extra-curricular activities. But there were the classes ... the list of required classes seemed endless. There was Biology with Rev. Willis Olson. Remember the nature hike down to the river bank in the fall? The data books and microscopes? Lab partners and FROGS??? Then there was the stimulating class of Phy Ed — SUIT-UP! (Thank heavens it was the last year of that.) CWC always held rousing adventures. What with Pericles, the Peloponnesian War, and the exciting escapades of Ivan the Terrible, one could hardly get bored. Well, we all survived every moment (both boring and exciting) of tenth grade. Only MA could plan to add on to the building the same year Minnesota broke record lows every other day. The cold kept us awake though. Hey! We might have learned more! Winter would have become very monotonous if it weren’t for the Pop Concert. People that came to the program were asking WHAT IN CREATION ? when they saw how we had to dress ... don’t trip on your caftans guys! Winter can't last forever (not even in good ol’ Minnesota) and so the early spring weather let us thaw out enough to sing the annual SEVEN LAST WORDS . Those who weren't thawed out for the concert were melting away under those gray robes by the finale. Junior class project number two came steaming around and the HMS PINAFORE got underway and set sail to arrive with a smashing success. (Quite a success for the girls too!) Who could possibly know that the boys (young gentlemen?) had such polite manners? It was fun though; just like our whole Junior Year had been. Scott Whitehill Julie Wilson Gregory Whiting David Wright If we weren’t in classes we were found whipping pennies in the Learning Center, doing any number of things in the Campus Room, or wandering the hall to keep Mr. Greener busy. (Those halls held something intriguing for us that our Dean of Students could never understand.) November came quickly and that meant Sadie Hawkins. Here was the last chance to ask that guy you had had a crush on since tenth grade. Though our fun wasn't held in a barn, we had a great time in our little town of Sadieville. (There really is a Sadieville in Pennsylvania!) Besides the pictures. Lifesaver-toothpick race, and getting married, there was the main attraction ... dancing (oops) ... folkgaming. We were fortunate to have any caller at all as our first man suddenly ended up in the hospital. Our little sophomore helpers ended the evening by decorating some cars in the parking lot with hay, TP. and frosting. Well, the year contained other special events too. such as SnoDaze and our second JS but as Seniors we got to go to our own special Senior Banquet. Baccalaureate, and last but not least by any means. Commencement. 33 4 chosen and precious; and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in scripture; “Behold. I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and he who believes in Him will not be put to shame. To you therefore who believe. He is precious, but for those who do not believe, The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner.'and A stone that will make men stumble. a rock that will make them fall ; for they stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were no people but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy. I Peter 2:4-10 37 STUDGNT hCTIHTICS Every one, then, who listens to these sayings of Mine and puts them into practice will be like a thoughtful man who built his house on the rock. •Matthew 8:24 38 )9 CONVOCATIONS The New Life Mission Week this year was held November 7-11. featuring the loquacious Oawson McAllister. Nearly everyone benefitted from this year’s New Life Mission Week. English, history, and chemistry, it's not too bad. Junior, what about you're teachers? Tell us something about them. Well, there's Mr. Erickson who always makes kids stand in the corner. And uhh ... Let's see ... Oh ya. there's Mrs. Johnson who all the guys are in love with. Another teacher is Mrs. Reichenbach. She was really fun on the Washington D.C. trip. There was also Mr. Lindmark. He was really neat. Tell us Junior, what were some of the activities that you enjoyed this year? Do you mean in the school or outside of school? Heh, heh!! Being serious now, I think that planning homecoming, and being involved in Sadie and J.S. was a lot of fun. The class parties were really neat too.
