youth speaks Debate: P. Convert, D. Holt, B. Mundt. K. Hagman, Mr. Fiaher, B. C loo Is bee. S. Wea-trem. B. Olson, C. Anderson, M. Haemig. P. Pederson. The highlight for this years debate team was when they took third place at the St. Olaf toumments. In her first attempt at original oratory, Chel Anderson succeeded in taking first place also at the St. Olaf tournaments. The topic for debate jvas, Government Involvement in the Water and Air Pollution within the U. S. The debate team participated in a total of six debate tournaments during the year, and was under the direction of Mr. Fisher for the first time. In another field of speaking, Mary Haemig placed first in the Voice of Democracy competition within our school. Round Robins during the spring were also challenging experiences for those who enjoy involvement in speaking. These activities provided opportunities to gain the twenty-five points necessary for membership in the N.F.L. J if ! How can I go wrong with Mr. Fiaher aa my debate coach. asks Dian Holt?
