- ■■■ o o CO 1-1 00 I wSM ' xlf • Sl v ' MEDIA gg$fj ■. • 1 ■ v ' S ' sentimental-(sSn ti men tal) easily moved to pity, sympathy, etc. also given to indulging one ' s emotions freely, appealing to the emotions. I ' ve been at Minnechaug all 4 years of my high school life. In that time I guess you could say alot of us have changed: We ' ve grown up alot and know pretty much where we ' re headed for after we leave. There are plenty of times that I ' ve put this school down and towards the end I thought I would die of frustration or boredom before I got my diploma- -I guess most of us have felt that way. But, you know, there sure have been plenty of good times, too. Even if I had the chance, I don ' t think I ' d change anything. tedious-(te di Ss) tiresome because of length or dullness; boring. Unpublished research shows that a high school senior leaves 87% of himself herself at the front door of school. That is, a student in class reveals only 1 12 of who he she is to his classmates and teacher. question-(kweVchun) (1) an expression of inquiry that invites or calls for a reply (2 ) a subject or point open to controversy (3) a difficult matter (4) uncertainty, doubt. What are the big questions? What kind of life do I want? What kind of job? How much money? What is the good life? How can I win the struggle to be happy? learn-(lurn) (1 ) to gain knowledge, mastery or comprehension through experience or study (2) to acquire through experience (3) to become informed. What good is doing vocabulary every week? I ' ll never use those words. They ' ll help you get into college. Maybe. They ' ll help you impress people. Yeah, maybe. It ' s better than writing compositions about them. I guess so. . . reminiscence-(rem i nis ens) the recollect- ion of past experiences. As I leave in a couple of months, I won ' t know exactly where I ' m headed, but I ' ll remember where I ' ve been. : i.r .j. ■■■am . freedom-(fre7dum) the quality or state of being free; the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action; independence. Class, today we ' re going to talk about freedom. Over the last few days some of you have men- tioned in our discussions. .... Class how can we discuss freedom if nobody will venture an opinion? Teacher, can we be free not to say anything if we want??? hungry- (hung gri) a craving or urgent need for food or a speci- fic nutrient. Let ' s go to Friendly ' s for lunch. Or how about Mac Donalds? Yeah-I could go for a quarter pounder with cheese! I ' d love some fries right now I!! Me too. Let ' s hit the road! Great! Who ' s got their car?. . . . Oh, nobody does? OH CRAP! I love the food they serve here. . . Yeah, you can get anything you want, practi- cally, at Minnechaug ' s cafeteria. I think having breakfast here is a good idea. We can even get donuts, and ice cream cones if we want!! Well-let ' s go eat. I ' m not hungry, I already ate 3 donuts during Snack Break!? R J TTTT ' VillifcllMMWIMin— XR?M i i ' I ll ' tH If-Jc. teach-(tech) (l)to impart knowledge or skill to; give instruction to (2) to provide knowledge of; instruct in (3) to cause to learn by example or experience. Out of all the classes I have had for 4 years, yours is the only one where people say ' hi ' to me when I come in. . . I ' m glad I ' m teaching. I like the new teachers, they seem to be more adventurous, we do more things -different ways. It makes a good change in the long day for me-- something to look forward to. mB Nbk M. pp.- ' Jf I like the old teachers --the ones who ' ve been around for awhile -- because of the way they teach: Just straight forward and out in the open. I don ' t like the new way that some teachers teach- -Its so weird: I get embarrassed when I have to do some of those things in class. I know it ' s all supposed to increase our learning, but I sure don ' t see how. friend-(frend) a person bound to another by affection, esteem, and intimacy. When we go away to college next year I ' ll prob- ably never see you again. Sure we will! We have to I We can write each other and see each other during vacations. I guess so. . . . but just in case we don ' t. . . . it was sure fun 1 1! sex appeal-(seks a pel) a personal appeal or physical attrac- tiveness for members of the opposite sex. He ' s good looking. Yeah, but he ' s so immature. He teases girls too much. Sometimes it really nurts when he teases me. So what? He ' s good looking!!! Geez. . . does she ever have nice legs -wonder who she ' s seeing. Wonder why she got her hair cut. . . looks good though! Yea, find out some more about her for me. She ' s too smart for you!!! senior-(sen yer) One who is older than others, or superior in dignity, rank, or office; a student in the final year of his high- school or college course. I can ' t believe I ' m a SENIOR already!!!!! What do you mean- -already? Why these past four years have passed so fast for me. ... I never thought I ' d make it through the first year now I ' m not so sure I ' ll make it through the last one. Think of all that ' s happened to us while being here! Seems like a million years ago since we came here as ' frosh ' Not to me. . . seems only yesterday we were ' frosh ' . I ' ll be sorry to leave the old place Not me --wish today was the last day of school. You say that now, but when we ' re gone you ' ll miss the place- -the best times of our lives were spent inside these halls and don ' t you forget it. . . I don ' t believe you. You ' ll see : r I think Open Campus is a great idea. I don ' t know, I just spend most of my time in the Library anyway. Me too, but it ' s the principle oi ig, that we CAN leave during our studies if we wane to. Or we can sit and talk with all our I won ' t be seeing when we leave, or go and get something to eat. . . I think it ' s a good idea too. Some day everyone in school will probably have it. . . it will sure be a madhouse thenlll home-(hom) a family ' s place of resi- dence; the social unit formed by a family living together; a congenial environment. It ' s E block already --that means only F and G to go! I know , but they ' re my least favorite classes. That ' s ok- -after E block the rest of the day is a breeze -- all downhill from here! Yeah. Then we get to go HOME. Yeah- -HOME AGAIN. FREDERICK H. ZIMMERMAN Gymnastics: 1,2,3,4 REBECCA ZAVALA Library Aide: 1; Student Hostess: 3,4 CHARLOTTE WORTHINGTON JONATHAN R . ' i THE CIRCLE GAME Yesterday a child came out to wander And caught a dragon-fly inside a jar. Fearful when the sky was full of thunder And tearful at the falling of a star. Then the child moved ten times round the seasons. And skated over ten clear frozen streams. Words like when you ' re older must appease him. And promises of someday make his dreams. And sixteen springs and sixteen summers are gone now. Cartwheels turn to carwheels through the town. They tell him, Take your time. It won ' t be long now Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down. So the child of dreams tomorrow now is twenty Tho ' his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true. There ' ll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty Before the last revolving year is through. CHORUS: And the seasons, they go round and round, Painted ponies go up and down. We ' re captives on the carousel of time. We can ' t return; we can only look behind from where we came, And go round and round and round in the circle game from THE CIRCLE GAME by Mitchell M1NNECHAUG DBRfflft GYM SHOW — 1 Afcfc t ft i rcL M ■ m 1 IhF ; v ft .1 •i ■a V M r5 ML HJh|H(, ' ' K B ■• ' VARSITY: Bottom Row: M.
