This year's Boys' Basketball Team didn't have the height they needed, but the team did have quickness and a balanced defense. They played much better than the record shows. We owe a lot of credit to our guys for working so hard. 64 Chelly Pruett, Vickie Williams, Sandy St. Hilaire, Sandy Nelson, Coach Dick Chambers, Pam Doughty, Bobbie Furst, Bonnie Hensel, Cindy McCormick, Not Pictured: Toni Wideman. Captains Sandy St. Hilaire, Pam Doughty. The Girls' Basketball team was something special for Vocational this year. It was a team that proved to many it could be done. The performance of all nine girls lead them to the City Conference Championship, an honor Vocational hasn't had for 23 years. The coaching provided by Dick Chambers was an important part of the team's success. Discipline, patience, determination, and the will to win were a few of the qualities shown by both coach and team. This shows Voc does have what it takes to become a winner. Thanks, girls! L TO R: Julian Streit This is a typical Southwest practice. In the center is Captain Herb Schoening. HOCKEY PLAYERS Vocational did not have a hockey team this year but we did have some determined men who went back to their home team to play. RUSTY GIESKE became a regular on Central's first line. BRUCE THOMPSON started to play for Central but was not eligible because he lived in another school district. PAUL DEMARAIS, last year's All City goalie, has really contributed to the great season Washburn had. JOHN JESSO and MIKE QUAL-LEY assisted North's efforts. JIM RUF started the season with West and played Junior A hockey. L TO R: Paul Demarais, Jim Ruf, Rusty Gieske, Bruce Thompson. On the 29th of January, the Seniors met in the lunchroom for breakfast. After breakfast they went to the gym for a few fast-moving volleyball games, then outside to see who would make the best snowman. They got a bite to eat before getting on the bus to hit the hills. At Theodore Wirth Park King Bobby Evans and Queen Sandy Nelson were crowned as Seniors enjoyed winter activities. A good day to remember! From where we once sat, lost in the never-ending dreamworld of quiet happiness, time has come to us . . . at last we've reached the ever-awaited time and we are called upon to pick up the pieces of our lost empty dreams and start over again. And now time has left us groping. Where can we turn? What do we do? Which way to go? Who can help us? No one; my friend. Time will not wait. For searching eyes and a questioning mind Life can be hell. And perhaps it is. But that is what we must I earn as we lock up our false dreams and hopes. Because it's time to search for our future. Here's to Old Vocational! We'll fly your banners high We'll fight to win the game— this is our aim—we're aiming for the sky. Rah! Rah! Rah! We won't weaken this is our theme, For our school has spirit supreme. Go! Go! Go! We're all for you, and our colors will carry through. 113 ACKERMAN, KENNETH- Cross Country 1, Tennis 1, Coop., Electricity. ADAMS, DAVID- Auto Mechanics. ALLGOOD, LYLE- Swimming 2, Radio-TV.
