Social Mudies offered rs the opportunity to learn how jur political structure works and helped us to appreciate our precious American system of government. The teachers enriched our learning experience Mathematics, Science Unraveling the mysteries of math and science provided frustration, excitement, and hard work. Teachers made a serious effort to individualize the assignments and relate them to the trades. Apparel arts includes the operation of industrial machines garment construction, custom sewing techniques, and merchandising. Dena Tarnowski (1), Henry Arent (2), chairman, Edward Karbo (3), Pat Brunsbcrg (4), Sophya Reitan (5), and Wanda Mattson (6). Auto Mechanic AUTO MECHANICS students gained knowledge of technical information to service any unit on a car. George Engdahl (1), James Hinshaw (2), and Feraz Meyer (4), chairman. SHEET METAL teacher Louis Prekker (5) gave some pointers on blueprints to a student. 13 , Barbering Muriel Zic 1), Betty Cassidy (.' jack (3), and Rober Business Ambrose Zeller (5), John Ferraro, chairman (6), Robert Hcd (7), and Blake Traeder (8). Business Data processing, typing, filing, operation of duplicating machines, tabulating and posting records were some of the skills learned by business students. Printing Printing students prepared to take jobs as compositors, strippers, plate-makers, pressmen under the training of Mel Sorenson (1), Earl Petre (2), Karl Axelsen (3), and Irvin Scott (5). Ray Grobe (9) supervised the training of metal arts students (11) in basic skills such as sawing, filing and silver soldering. Calvin Schaeffer (1). and Rodney VanSickle(6). 19 Practical Nursing Students have 500 hours of class work plus clinical experience in the care of medical and surgical patients, geriatric patients, mothers and children. Welding Upholstery Shoe Repair Welders learned how to carry the torch from Gene Rome (2). Earl Weisner (5) got a laugh out of a shoe repair student, but learning the skills of handling leather and complex machinery was serious business usually. Frederick Rodde (6) prepared his upholstery students to be on their own (7). Physical Education Building better bodies was the job of Gerald Cady (3) and Dorothy Tenny (1), who resigned in November and was replaced by Jane Gilchrist (4). Drama classes also participated in a Drama Festival at West High where Vocational students did a cutting from the play JANE EYRE and a three act improvisation. Students also did an All-School Variety Show in which high school and post high students participated. Intramural A program begun this year by Mr. Wodorski and Mr. Schimd had as its purpose to provide a social recreational experience while instilling pride and school spirit in the participants. Due to the limited facilities, the program was forced to operate before school between 7:30-8:10. It proved to be a great success with over 500 students participating in .volleyball, broomball, basketball, ping pong and bowling.
