Mr. Nord Announcing . lt is a real privilege to speak to the many readers ot our school annual, THE TRADEWIND. The year I955-56 has been a momentous year in the history ot the Minneapolis Vocational l-ligh School. We have witnessed the completion ot one ot our great dreams, new and improved facilities tor our education program: a beautitul auditorium, a new lunchroom and recrea- tional area, a music suite, and many other necessary additions. A year ago we watched with much satistaction the ground-breaking and preliminary planning tor the set- ting ot the tootings tor the steel structure. It was so important that our new addition have a broad tounda- tion, tootings capable ot withstanding many times the proposed weight ot the new building when occupied ll 8 to capacity. We marveled at the intricate detailed working drawings prepared by experienced architects and how crattsmen representing many trades under- stood this universal language and, using their varied and skilled talents, molded together materials ot many kinds into a beautitul addition to our school. We must plan to use these tine educational tacilities wisely so that you-the students ot today, our prod- ucts, the citizens and tradesmen ot tomorrow-will have the knowledge, skill, understanding, vision, and taith so necessary tor our countryls survival as a major intlu- ence tor good in the world today. Your success in lite will depend upon the tirm toundation you have built through your training program here at Vocational. fl
