We may never pass this way again,” was a fitting theme for Homecoming 1976. For the Seniors it is especially meaningful because this is their last year at M.L.H.S. A brilliant sunset was the setting for an evening that held many memories. With emcees Scott Sylwester and Tim Wolf setting the pace, the New Wine Singers began the evening singing a Beatle’s Medley. Adria Bersie and Mona Zoell-mer created a Gourmet’s delight in their 2 in 1 part II. Returning to their childhood for a moment, Kathy Kingman, Laura Ness, and Roberta Ulrich, sang Peanut Butter and Jelly. In a skit entitled The Restaurant, Michelle Nibbe, Scott Kingman, Ted Lange-wisch, and Ted Hinck helped a few unfortunate Freshman feel like Freshman. Balancing water on their backs was a very humble experience for them. New Wine did another number, Singing in the Rain, complete with umbrellas! The 11 o’clock news was brought to us by Joel Voelker and Eric Walt. The finale: The Diamond-Clad Mohn sister, Monica, Elsa, and Katherine, sang Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend.” Now the big event, the moment we’ve been waiting for, Coronation of our new Homecoming Queen. Emcee s:Tim Wolf Scoff Sylwesfer The court moved rather nervously to their positions on the risers. Pamela Joy Dobberpuhl escorted by Scott Paul Kingman Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Diane Marie Pedersen escorted by Daniel Leonard Kuhlman Your Song.” Laura Ann Ness escorted by David Paul Marose Brian’s Song. Ramona Jean Zoellmer escorted by Richard Daniel Lallak Intervisions. Carol Lynn Meyers escorted by Theodore Paul Hinck Homecoming. 1975 Homecoming Queen Lark Leigh Gilmer escorted by 1976 Football Captains Paul Koehn and Jon Rehwaldt. The boxes of roses were distributed and a look of surprise and joy came over our new Queen’s face. Laura Ann Ness had received the white rose . Through tears and smiles she accepted her crown and became our Queen. Saturday morning was the Alumni Brunch followed by the football game against Breck in the afternoon. After a tough game the Lancers lost 12-6. The weekend was highlighted by a dance in the evening, coming 1976 left warm memories. I find it so hard to put into words the emotions I felt, so overwhelming. Everyone looked so beautiful, everyone was so kind so warm so supportive. I only regret that there can’t be more than one queen— so many, many girls deserve the award—I am so sorry! You have given me a weekend I shall always remember. Thank you all for that overwhelming happiness and love. I hope you all someday can experience what I have!
