FOREWORD The hand--this is the theme for the 1965-1966 Aureole. The hand is 3 part of our body we use almost constantly for so many, many things. And yet we use it unconsciously, only rarely stopping to consider the wonder of our hands. God gave us power to train our hands to do hundreds of things. We can write, making thousands of different lines and symbols to express our thoughts. The hands can hold a fork, paint a picture, open a door, tie a shoe. The hands of the baseball player firmly grip the bat, and the hands of the football player tensely clutch the football as the plays unfold. The hands of the mother hold her baby gently with tenderness. The hands of the students scribble furiously to get the lecture notes. The hard, strong hand of the big brother reaches out to grasp the soft hand of his little sister. The sure hand of the nurse reaches to care for and comfort the sick. The hand of a friend reaches to help when help is needed. And the hands of God’s people fold in thankfulness. j
