STUDENT COUNCIL Thirteen members, two from each class and one from each organization, Mr. Miller and Mr. Hammer, representing the faculty, made up the Student Council the past year. The big money making project of the year was the sponsoring of an Alumni basketball game during Christmas vacation. Other activities sponsored by the Council were cheerleader election, Basketball Launching Party, Christma s Party, all -school pictures, and a skating party held in Pekin. Plans for the second semester included exchange assemblies, two feature length films, additional work in the recreation room, a ping -pong tournament, buying new records, a clothing drive, Student Control Day, revision of the consti- tution, a nd an end -of-school party. The Council also left a plan for the first semester of next year to enable the Council to get off to a faster start. Our president this year initiated plans for the County Federation of Councils. Bill Imig Lois Diegel Mrs. Tackett Again, as in the past. the Spotlite ca me out every 3 weeks. 54 students and past graduates gladly paid their 5093 pieces to read the small but newsy Spotlite. We also exchanged papers with 12 surround- ing schools. Several new features were added this year. One enjoyed most was Your Top Ten . The students submitted their ten fa vorite tunes in the Scandal Box and when the Spotlite came out, there it was -- Your Top Ten with an M,C,H,S, Special, the one that didn't quite make the top. We also added a re - porter for each class this year hoping to cover their news more fully. As this year draws to a close I feel that l have gained much from being Editor of the Spotlite. Ihave had the pleasure of working with a swell staff. Mrs. Tackett has just been wonderful in everything and without her it would have been impossible to edit such a fine paper. No words can express my gratitude to the staff and Mrs. Tackett so I'll just say thanks for everything. It is with a great deal of plea sure , a nd a little regret, too, that I trun the paper over to the new editor and her staff. Lots of luck, Linda! Pat Malinowski Editor 32
