Also my faithful Royal, and any one of my three desks in the commerce room, hoping she learns more and forgets less than l did. I, Jerry Myers, will to Wayne Schmidgall, my window, so when study hall gets dull he can break the monotony by looking out across our vast East Campus. I, Harriet Gordon, will to Gary Nolder, my ability to stay out of trouble! ! and get in early??? I, Pat Malinowski, in sound mind and body do hereby bequeath to Linda Brenneman, the editorship of the Spotlite. Along with this go all the dummy copies, stencils, and spilled correction fluid. Last, but not least, l suggest that she put someone on her staff who is highly excelled in cleaning off the roller on the mimeo- graph machine after it has been through a good inking. I, Dorothy Gordon, will to Ronnie Henderson, my driving abilities, that is to dodge cops, and stay out of trouble. 1Don't end up paying fines or landing in jail.J I, Barbara Drinnon, do will to Dick Freitag, my unfailing reliability to do everything on the Scroll the hard way, and all my yearbook advertising receipts in hopes that he can double them next year. I, Ronnie Cruse, having a tired body and a worn out mind do bequeath to Jake Bahan, all of my good and had experiences in the prison in which l have just spent four years at hard labor, in hopes that he won't get into as much trouble with the wardens as I did. l, Lois Diegel,in sound body and mind fl hopej, do hereby will to Peggy Myers, all of my used paper from American History, typing, and such, in hopes that she will make enough money on a paper drive to help pay her doctor bills and to help get her knee healed so that she will be able to be a cheerleader next year. I, Bill Mueller, being in my body and feeble ,mind, will to Lloyd Conn, my ability to run fast so that he will not get into trouble. I, Donna Gemberling, in somewhat sound mind and body do hereby bequeath to Bonnie Tucker, all my old American History papers in hopes that she will make better use of them than I did. In the fall of 1951 when we entered High School we had gained Barbara Drinnon and Jim Pawson. Our teachers were Lester Miller, principal, Paloma Dillon, sponsor, Edwin Saunders, Hazel Shade, J. Hammer, Eunice Eckhoff, Gerald Wagoner, and Patricia Fox. We were thoroughly initiated in high heels, hoop skirts, and large brimmed hats for the boys, and overcoats and boots for the girls. On October 19th we held a rec- reation party in the gym. Officers were Dick Schmidgall, president, Bill Imig, vice president, Barbara Drin- non,secretary, Bill Mueller, treasurer, and Pat Malinowski, and Ronnie Cremeens, Student Council. As sopho- mores, Ralph Morgan was our sponsor. Other teachers were Mr. Miller, Mr. Saunders, Mr. Hammer, Mrs. Dillon,Miss Wilma Rosebraugh,Mrs. Grace Pittman, the James F1avin's, and when Mrs. Dillon left, Mrs. Faye Tackett. We had a skating party, a recreation party, and a square dance. Our officers were Barb Drinnon, president, Bill Mueller, vice president, Bill Imig, secretary, Pat Schmidgall, treasurer, Dick Schmidgall, parliamentarian, and Pat Malinowski and Bill Mueller, Student Council. As juniors, Miss Rosebraugh was our sponsor,Mr. Rothel Buzzard replaced Mr. Morgan, Carolyn Denman replaced Mrs. Pittman, and William Van- deveer replaced the Flavins. The junior play was ONE MAD NIGHT presented November 6th--the best junior play ever produced at MCHS. In November we ordered class rings. April 30th was the date of the Jr.- Sr. Prom and Banquet whose theme was the Mardi Gras. The banquet was held in the Koffee Kup Kafe. Paul Wireman furnished the music for the prom in our gym. In May we held a class party. Our officers were Barb Drinnon, president, Bob Freitag, vice president, Pat Malinowski, secretary, Pat Schmidgall, treasurer, and Betty Kurth and Bill Mueller, Student Council. August 30th, we seniors showed up for our final year all together. Mr. Clark Esarey, who filled the vacancy of Mr. Buzzard,was the one faculty change. John Graber has been custodian. September lst we elected Bill Mueller, president, Pat Schmidgall, vice president, Deane I-laning, secretary,Pat Malinowski,treasurer, and Betty Kurth and Dick Schmidgall, Student Council. Mr. J. Hammer was our sponsor. September 10th we initiated the freshmen. October lst was the day for senior pictures which were taken at Rembrandts' in Peoria. We finished the day by shopping, eating dinner at the Bishop Cafeteria, and attending either a movie or a football game. We plan the following activities: Senior Play, April 29th, a trip to Chicago, May 1 -15, Baccalaureate, May 22nd, and Commencement, May 25th. The achievements and scholastic records tell only part of our success story. Our class and its members have produced outstanding accomplishments in athletics, journalism, dramatics, and government, as well as individual success in activities in and out of school. Although at times we griped and complained, we leave MCHS with reverence as we remember the happy days there. And so with a slight glance backward we look to the future for new accomplishments. CLASS PROPHECY THE MINIER NEWS MAY 25, 1974 Pat Schmidgall, a noted author, returned recently from S we d e n where she received the Nobel Prize for her best seller, 'Gone with the Breeze. Bill Imig, former major league baseball star, now a successful coach, is visiting his parents in Minier. Two of the best policewomen in the state, Dorothy and Harriet Gordon, will lecture on safe -driving at the December Meeting of the P. T. A. Bob Freitag, a successful cattle- rancher from Wyoming, is home after showing his prize Angus cattle in Chicago. Prof. Lois Diegel, Head of the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia Tech., has won world-wide acclaim as a plant breeder. She expects to develop a peanut tree within the ne xt few years. It has just been reported, Pat Malinowskiis flying to Germany to marry a handsome Air Force cap- tain, whose n a me has not be e n learned. Richard Schmidgall, well known business executive from New York, hasjust completed the biggest busi- ness deal in history. It is believed to be in the zillion dollars. Jerry Myers, campaigning for State Senator, made a short speech during his thirty-minute plane stop in Minier. The famous archeo1ogist,Jim Pawson, is still hunting for bones. On Thursday he discovered six more bones of the huge mammal near Armington. He believes he will have the entire skeleton in six months and plans on ezdiibiting it then. Bill Mueller and his wife, the former Barbara Drinnon, and their triplets flew home from Alaska in their private plane. They are own- ers of one of the largest uranium mines in the world. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hastings, the former Donna Gemberling, along with their four lovely chil- dren are visiting her mother in Minier. After a distinguished term of practicing law, Deane Haning has been appointed president of Harvard University. He willbe the youngest president in its' history. Betty Kurth is home from New York for a visit of two weeks. She is a famous star of stage and screen where she takes the part of a spin- ster. Popular bandleader, Ronald Cruse, known as The King of Jazz , will play at Minier's Policeman's Ball on December 10. Gene Nafziger, aworld's famous chemical inventor, has just com- pleted a process for treating tobacco whereby nearly all the poisonous nicotine is removed. His motto will be: 99.9987654132 per cent pure. Editor's note: We always knew the class of 1954 was an exceptionally talented one.
