Superintendent Carl H. Craighead TO ALL STUDENTS: The personality of the Mineral Wells High School during the 1969-70 school year has been a composite of all of the personalities of some 900 students working together for 9 months, because the High School is really you, the students, and not just the stone edifice as we generally think. The personality of the High School, projected through you has been an exceptional one; and I trust that you will remember this as a year of pleasant interaction with fellow students, a year in which you received concerned guidance from devoted teachers, and most of all, a year in which you achieved your goals. Several schools in our nation had to close for short periods this year because of depleted funds. Ours did not. Several schools had unrest and disruption. Ours did not. School Officials recognized these things that many people take for granted, and we hereby express our gratitude to the patrons of our community and to the student body for another outstanding year. A SPECIAL WORD TO THE SENIORS: To the Seniors, I would say that today the challenges facing our communities and our nation call for intelligent, committed, active leadership. We. as concerned adults, believe that our money and our efforts have been spent to prepare you to meet the social, vocational, and college challenges of today. Just as pa- rents and teachers have been dedicated to a task of assisting you in this development, so will you be dedi- cated now to active involvement in civic and professional affairs in your community, your church, and your nation. You are entering this work today, not tomorrow. The tomorrow for which you have been preparing is now. Ybu have been the leaders this year: You are leaders today. I salute you, the Seniors of 1970, upon completion of your public school work. Sincerely, Carl H. Craighead Superintendent of Schools 23
