V A ft' 44:3- xlf THE QUIJQILQGD 4l G Foreword: Just as newspapers and magazines are a vital link in our country's commtmication systems, the Burro is a vital link in Mineral Wells High School functions and fond remembrances. Each student has established a place in the school, and the Burro reflects these positions and achievements each year. Residents throughout the area have accomplished certain goals and their presence is felt- in every function of the city. The more goals that are reached, the greater the city. The students and faculty of Mineral Wells High School have made this school a school to be proud of, and likewise, the wonderful people of Mineral Wells and Fort Wolters have made this an area of which each can feel grateful that they THE IELDEQRCD 73 I have had a part in its development. We, of the We Burro, recognize this fact and feel honored that we 1 might add our part to this great school and great , 4, Y community. . 2 Z ' ' 'W o fm , ar e s M :7' fr---f h - fi... These officials are , in truth, only residents of the city. If they do their work to the best of their ability. then the govern- ment runs smoothly and efficiently. H55 ifiittilililiiliiiiiimw What is the basic factor that determines a city's greatness? Is' it the people who live, work, and play in the city? If city government makes great cities, then consider what comprises that government. The business firms in the city might account for the city's development. The increase of business establishmenw goes hand in hand with the increase of the size of the city, then this city will prosper along with the well-being of the business themselves Without the people to run these places of business, and that important asset - the custo- mer. these places would be nothing more than empty buildings inhabited by rodents and insects for protection from the elements. Schools in Mineral Wells keep abreast of the lime. Countless school personnel spend extra hours on the job. The latter statement is also true of recrea- tional areas, and in fact, in anyinstitution or function. Without people, there could be none of these. 5:4 an Q 4 vi? The schools play a very important part indeed in preparing the future citizens for their place in life. The greatness of the people depends a great deal on the amount of education they obtain in their preparatory years. New Music Hall One of our outstanding citizens--Senator Tom Creighton, of whom we are justly proud. Let's help make Mineral Wells one of the best cities in the United States! It is entirely possible if each endeavors to do his best to make it so. A city is what we, as citizens, make it. We fulfill the purpose for which we come to school---to learn. Careful class instruction is given in all departments. The school strives to meet the needs of each student. kontlnue ln the tate -xl 1 f ' 'WY v l. WELI- . For some, it comes after a long, fruitful life: but for others it occurs after they have enjoyed only a short time on earth. Why life ends so abruptly for some, we cannot understand yet. Though Mike's life ended suddenly, after he had been with us for a scant seventeen years, he filled these years with rich experiences and an abundance of friends who will remember ,him throughout the years. It may seem that Mike left us untimely, but he will never again be endangered. He now finds comfort in his place in Heaven. SANDRA HOPKINS Through the course of history, certain individ- uals come into existence who show exceptional merit in the eyes of those around them. Sandra was one of those individuals. No kinder or sweeter person was ever known by those who knew and loved her. With an intense and enduring effort, she over- came a handicap, that to others, would have proven to be a defeat in life. For her, each day brought forth a new experience and she looked forward to its unfolding. She did not take life for granted. but looked at it as it should be looked at--each event a rich and rewarding experience. Though she was unable to be with us in the classroom physically, spiritually she was a part of all the student body and faculty. For Sandra, life might have been considered to be full of sorrow and heartbreaksg but Sandra did not feel this way. She now enjoys a life that many of us would long to live, for now we are confident Sandra is living in everlasting peace with her Heavenly Father. As the years pass, we at Mineral Wells High School, will never forget her because she meant so much to us. MIKE HARRINGTON .aw , .f D. W. MCBRIDE, Principal BILL SWEET, Assistant Principal The 1966-67 BURRO is special in many ways, not the least of which is this year's joint dedication. Rarely is a school so fortunate as to have two such fine persons whose closely associated work in the adminisuration of our school has contributed so much to the lives of students and faculty alike. Dedicated men--Men with a purpose. These words, in a small way, are indicative of Mr. Mc- Bride and Mr. Sweet. Each of these men regards every student as an individual with potentialg and each, with unfailing courtesy, takes time to help the student realize and develop that potential. It is in this endeavor, as in all other areas under their guidance and influence, that these men are re- spected in their positions of leadership. Through our association with these two, men, our insight has been deepened, our knowledge in- creased, and our sincere respect for wisdom-at-work has been magnified. They will long remain vivid in our memory. In their approach to students, their very natures reflect what each seems to say: Choose wisely in your decisions which will continue throughout your lives. Choose wisely, for each will help fashion your most priceless possession--your character. It is with great pride that we dedicate the 1966-67 BURRO to Mr. D. W. McBride and Mr. Bill Sweet! Each sets a shining example for others to follow. i 3 i ff' lf Administration THE M CD . - ...'J O 1 1 a 2 Y l 5 1 3 l 1 H. L. Irsfeld. Superintendent of Schoolsg Dr. A. T. Under the leadership of Coach Bill Reddell and his assistants, Coaches Pete Hart, Charles Scott, and Pat Simmons, these boys acquired a 7-3-1 record through their hard efforts and never-give-up attitude. Prior to the Bi-District game, this team was ranked as 92 in defense with only 69 points being scored against them the whole season.
