Dear All: Please allow me to extend my heartfelt congratula- tions on your Fiftieth Anniversary Edition of the BURRO. It is a splendid achievement, and is, in my opinion, the best yet. Also. it is an excellent example of what long, hard work, combined with intelligent supervision and great love of Mineral Wells High School can produce. This 1963 BURRO is indeed worthy of the traditions of our Alma Mater; and no doubt there 15 such intense pride 111 it that all high school students will Secure copies and keep them always handy 50 they can someday show them to their children and grandchildren. A short time ago that is just what I did with my grandchildren, who naturally giggled at the old-fashioned styles shown in the 1913 edition, but who got a big kickn out of it, too. Fifty years -- half a century -- ago, the Greeting in the first BURRO read as follows: i'For the first time the BL'RRO greets you. As he is such a husky young animal, we are sure his time will be long; that as the years pass on, his size will increase and his appearance become more beautiful.H It goes without saying that this prophesy has, in truth, been fulfilled. Again let me say to all of you, congratulations for a job well done. Carry on! Sincerely. X. 6. W42. J. E. Belcher, Sr. Dear FriendS: Editor, 1913 BURRO We,ofthe BURRO staff, would like to take this op- portunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for the past fifty years of progress in journalism. This progress has been shown through the efforts of hard work and undying spiritsince1913. We hope that every student, teacher, administrator, and all others asso- ciated with Mineral Wells High School, will forever hold dear these memories of HHigh School DaysH in this, our Fiftieth BURRO. May this BURRO, 1962-1963 be another Hstepping stoneH to staffs in the years ahead, just as the 1913 edition served as the first Hstep. Might these Hsteps in the progress of Mineral Wells High School never cease their way upward.
