THOMAS CARNEY Shakespeare said in Twelfth Night I hate ingratitude more in a man than lying, vainness. . . or taint of vice. The lesson for us in these words is clear. As students, our gratitude toward these who have provided our culture and our body of knowledge should be expressed in two ways. We must be determined to learn as widely and as deeply as our abilities allow, and we must resolve to contribute to the sum total of learning to the extent that we can.
