Zhc Donkey When fishes flew and forests walked And figs grew upon thorn, Some moment when the moon was blood Then surely I was born. With monstrous head and sickening cry And ears like errant wings, The devil's walking parody On all four-footed things. The tattered outlaw of the earth, Of ancient crooked will; Starve, sco.urge, deride me: I am dumb, I keep my secret still. Fools, for I also had my hour; One far fierce hour and sweet; There was a shout about my ears, And palms before my feet. Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Retrospection Thirty-seven years ago, in 1913, The Burro greeted the students of the Mineral Wells High School for the first time. In reviewing the page of greeting of that first edition, The 1950 Burro Staff was thrilled and inspired to learn that the initial aims in their simplicity and sincerity embodied all that any staff could hope to attain. Then, as now, The Burro was never meant to be a work of priceless art. While we are proud of the opportunity of having a part in your hopes of greeting of that first edition, The 1950 Burro Staff making his physical appearance a little more beauti- ful, we shall cherish forever those grass roots that were planted so deeply in conveying an idea of high school life and loyal spirit of the dear old school days. If The Burro continues to shed a happy glow over your reminiscences, then what aim is more worthy? THE BURRO STAFF OF 1913 WE SALUTE YOU
