Who CI-IERYL WATTS Our Electrifying Watts Seldom does the girl pretty enough to be chosen Sweet- heart of the I-Ii-Y make the honor roll with amazing frequency also. However, beauty and brains are the rare combination in possession of our own Cheryl Watts. A cheerleader for the past three years, her enthusiastic leadership as a Co-Chief this year has brought to our athletic teams some of t.he finest support they have known. In addition to this extra-curricular activity, Cheryl devotes part of her free time to service as Secre- tary of the Senior Class and as President of the Girls' Monogram Club. This past year she was a member of the autumn Homecoming Court and a sponsor in the winter Homecoming Court. SYLVIA WEST Delightful Who is Sylvia? What is she? That all our swains commend her? Fair, good-natured, friendly and attractive are adjec- tives which aptly describe one of the most delightful personalities at Mineral Springs, Sylvia West. For wherever people congregate,she is a welcome member with her talent for imparting warmth and laughter. Because of her Winsome beauty, Sylvia has received many rewards, Key Club Sweetheart and membership in the autumn Homecoming Court, to name a few. As a member of the cheerleading squad, she is a standout by way of her fair good looks and blithe spirit. Always personable and fun-loving, Sylvia is a welcome mem- ber of Who's Who or of any group.

CLIFF VENABLE An Admirable Fellow Cliff is liked by all for his friendliness toward every- one. His clever, friendly personality has brought him many honors such as his election as Boy of the Month, Valentine King, and Anchor Club Admiral. As a member of the Key Club for the past two years, his leadership has been strongly felt, especially this year through his service as Treasurer of the club. Students in other schools are kept up-to-date with events at Mineral Springs through Cliff's work as a teenage cor- respondent for the Iournal-Sentinel. A natural asset to the life of the school, Cliff's friendliness and service will be remembered long after our school days have been finished. Who's BRENDA SPARKS . . . right in style. . . Who's the girl with the golden curls Who's popular with the boys and girls? In commercial classes she really Sparks By making higher-than-average marks. In service, too, she's right in style Giving her talents to things worthwhile- Anchor Club, LARENIM, Quill and Scroll. If you haven't guessed it now, you're too droll. Brenda Sparks stands as a representative of high scholas- tic achievement, having been chosen in her Junior year as a Marshal, and in her Senior year as a member of the National Honor Society. Her journalistic talents have most recently been devoted to serving as Editor-in-Chief of the LARENIM and as Secretary-Treasurer of the Quill and Scroll, an honorary journalism society.

Class As we look back over our class history, the most memorable event which enters our minds is that oi' entering Mineral Springs High School in September, 1958, FUMBLING FRESHMEN-that's what everyone called us, and for the first few days we were. It was a new experience for us getting acquainted with the new students who were to be our classmates and friends for thenext four years. To start our first year, we elected the following officers: President, Ed Pinson, Vice-President, Mickey Austin, Secretary, Wayne James, and Treasurer, Bobby Southern. We were pleased to find that the Key Club inducted Danny Fulk, David Matlock, Darrell Church, Mickey Austin, and Fred Lewis. While cheerleaders Betty McNeil, Connie Kapp, Nancy Cromer, and Cheryl Watts were rooting for the Bulldogs, Bonnie Dills, Sue Griffin, Carole Trivette, and Jane Hutchins were stepping high as the new carolettes. We wound up our year with the Freshman picnic at Reynolds Park. This was our main happening of that year and by now we were all in the swing of high school life. In September, 1959, we entered the year as HSOPHISTICATED SOPHOMORES, and by then we were! We chose to lead us during that year: President, Jim Ricci, Vice-President, Danny Fulk, Secretary, Bobby Southern, and Treasurer, Sylvia West. One of the most outstanding events of that year was the Sophomore Prom. As our theme, we selected Around The World. Sports fans noticed several of our class members participating in various sports. Those making the varsity football team were Jim Ricci, Bobby Southern, Robert Nelson, Mickey Austin, Randy Revels, Danny Fulk, Byron Henley, Ed Pinson, Rodney Cook, and Gary Worrell. Making the varsity basketball teams that year were Judy Pulp, Martha Hauser, Betty Moore, Diane Dezern, and Allen Johnson. On the track team we found Ed Pinson, Danny Fulk, Lester Russell, Bobby Southern, Richard Lancaster, Terry Hicks, and Mickey Austin. Our class was privileged to have in the Homecoming Court that year Sylvia West. The newly established Anchor Club inducted Sandra Flynt, Be cky C audle, Marie Fishel, Jane Bowman, Brenda Sparks, Carol Copeland, Kay Lawson Hurd, Betty McNeil, and Becky Lindsay. In addition, the Key Club accepted Clifford Venable as a member. Newly-chosen cheerleaders this year were Judy Hutcherson, Judy Venable, and Sylvia West. Sandra Williams was chosen a carolette and joined the other high steppers. September, 1960-we were new JOLLY JUNIORS, the upper classmen! We chose to guide us through that year President, Danny Fulk, Vice-President, Jim Ricci, Secretary, Becky Lindsay, and Treasurer, David Matlock. The highlight of that year was the long-awaited Jtmior-Senior Prom. We selected as our theme Candy Land and sold magazines to finance the event. Our Junior Marshals were David Matlock, chiefg Lois Shipley, Becky Caudle, Danny Fulk, Cecil Ann Irvin, Fred Lewis, Sandra Flynt, Robert Wolfe, Brenda Sparks, Barbara Dyer, and Darrell Church. Betty McNeil represented our class in the Homecoming Court, and Judy Hutcherson was an attendant in the Library Court. Clifford Venable and Nancy Cromer were chosen Valentine King and Queen. Several of our boys were found working many tiresome hours in the gym-Calvin Lawson,Byron Henley,Jim Hudson, and Jesse Beckner--the recent members of the varsity basketball team. The track team acquired Jim Hoilman, Tommy Grubbs, Jim Hudson, and Calvin Lawson. Our varsity baseball players for that year were Randy Revels, Lester Russell, and Don Melvin. Carole Trivette was chosen a majoretteg Janice Wallace was selected as a cheerleader. '60
