RICHARD LANCASTER A Popular Favorite FOOTLIGI-IT ffrom stagep: This is a high school. I work here. I'm a footlight. Ihave shone my brilliant light on many student actors throughout the years. I remember most vividly one short, white-haired man fa Dr. Chausable, I believe, who kept an audience in stitches with his sermon on the significance of 'manna in the wi1derness.' This footlight could have been talking about one actor only-Ri c h a r d L a n c a s t e r. Dramatics interests him very much and he participates in many assemblies, plays, and recitations. Richard had one of the leading parts in last year's play, The Importance of Being Earnest. His acting ability has also led him to participate in summer stock at Tanglewood The atre. But dramatics is not the only field in which Richard excels. A member of the cross- country team in track, his spirit of sportsmanship has made him a necessary m e mb e r. In personality, too, R i ch a rd is above par. His warm, friendly m a nn e r towards everyone makes him a popular favorite on campus. Who's CONNIE KAPP . . . The Larger Part of School Spirit. Have you ever noticed a burst of spirit plunging head-on into you when trying to make your Way down the halls? More than likely it's our shortest member in the Senior Class,Connie Kapp.As a cheerleader she is a very active booster and grand participant of school spirit. It may be said that although she is quite small in size she is tre- mendous in volume. Connie very definitely makes up the larger part of school spirit.

Who BYRON HENLEY A Big Third Voted by the Senior Class into Who's Who, Byron Henley is a 170-pound ace on the gridiron and a 6'1 deadeye on the basketball court. Being also on the baseball team, this rugged athlete is so skilled at the diamond that he often is referred to as the batting champion. The senior football players voted him Most Valuable Football Player. His record during the past season confirms the faith attributed him. A team Tri -Captain of basketball, he is known as one of The Big Three. It is an indis- putable fact that he has helped lead our Bulldogs through many decisive victories. ,ff BUTCH JOHNSON A Regular joe Lights are low, the stage is set, and suddenly music fills the air. It's a lark! It's a twister! No! It's Butch johnson crooning to the music of the Monarchs! For whether it's singing, dancing, acting, or participating in sports, you can be sure he'll try a hand at it-and give it his all. Considered a re gular fellow here at Mineral Springs, Butch is President of the Hi-Y Club, a service organization whose purpose and meaning in the school he has helped to advance. Through his many activities, his service has proved to be of vital im- portance to the school.

Who CALVIN LAWSON Another Big Third Up in the air, Calvin! screamed the fans during a bas- ketball game and, sure enough, the lofty star retrieved the jump ball. This action became one of the familiar scenes around Mineral Springs this year as the Bulldogs romped through many victories, sparked by the high scoring of Calvin Lawson. In many ways, the 6'5 Tri- Captain has sparked his team, not only with his above- avera g e height, but also with his deft shooting and rebound ability. An athlete in every respect, Calvin has certainly boosted school spirit. FRED LEWIS C1umsy Fred Lewis is a boy who is active in everything. He has prove d his leadership ability in both class activities and in extra-curricular activities. As Vice-President of the Senior Class, Fred has devoted his services toward making our last year at Mineral Springs a suc- cessful one. He is also President of the College Club, Chaplain of the Key Club, and Vice-President of the National Honor Society. Because of his commendable academic record, Fred was last year chosen to serve as a junior Marshal. Being quite talented, Fred excels in dramatics, singing, playing of the piano and guitar, and dancing. As one of the main characters in last year's junior-Senior Play, Fred was one of the actors whose performances helped to make the play a success. At times, his well-known dignity is unmasked, for this boy has a knack for making people think he'll crash into them bodily. But just as soon as one thinks there will be a collision, Fred regains his poise and strolls down the hall to the bewilderment of his would-be victim. Because of his versatility, Fred is a deserving selection for Who's Who.
