Our leaders for this first wonderfully strange year were Bonnie Reid, President, Eleanor Bell, Vice President, Genie Pettit, Secretary, and Larry Ownes, Treasurer. Alltoo soon this first year was over and we started our summer vacation with pleasant dreams of what our Sophomore year would be like . Being called silly Sophomores didn't bother us as we started plans for our first formal, the long remembered Sopho- more Prom. We picked as our theme, Mardi Gras, and still hold this memory very near. Leading us through our second year of high school were Harold Billings, President, Larry Owens,Vice President, Secretary, Bonnie Reid, and Treasurer, Lanny Owens. With the close of another school year we left with thoughts that now we were, Rising juniors. The weeks flew by, and now ready for a new year we picked P r e s i d e nt, Roger Boles, Vice P r e side nt, Brenda Wightman, Secretary, Kathy Worrell, and Lanny Owens, Treasurer. Our year as Juniors was filled with excitement and memories. One of the most memorable events was the Homecoming Game victory over Gray and the half-time activities when Kay Priddy was crowned Queen. Attending her from our Junior Class were Nancy Reeves and Donna Duggins. Receiving honors in the Dramatic Field were Betty Hall, Danny Prior, Kay Priddy, Tommie Oates, Brenda Wightman, Fay Smith, and Nancy Moore, as they received roles in the junior-Senior Play, The Goof From Gopher Gulch. Receiving top academic honors were our Junior Marshals: Roger Boles, Bonnie Reid, Betty Hall, Garry Brown, Bonnie Beeson, Barbara West, Larry Owens, Lanny Owens, Kathy Worrell, Pauline Hamm, and Chief, Cheryl Wilson. Shouts of the crowd and the never tiring spirit of the cheerleaders could only mean one thing, ballgames. Fighting for the Bulldogs were our athletes. On the gridiron were Larry Teal, Charles Teal, Don Redding, Jerry Stewart, Dean Semones, Guy Holcomb, and Co-Captains their Senior year, jerry Byerly and Eddie Wooten. Sinking those baskets over the years were our basketball players: Roger Boles, Charles Bradley, Eddie Wooten, and Co-Captains their Senior year, jerry Byerly and Steve Walker. Hitting homers and catching flies were Eddie Wooten, Jerry Byerly, Steve Walker, and Don Knight. Track stars were Charles Teal, Larry Teal, Guy Holcomb, Dean Semones, and Ben Smith. Last but not least were our girl athletes. Co-Captains of the Bulldog team their Senior year were Bonnie Reid and Genie Pettit, and the other players were Pat Owens and Sarah Carter. Always there cheering, never tiring, and full of spirit, were our cheerleaders. Leading the cheers through the years were Barbara Moore, Avalene Dalton, Abigail Carter, Wanda Blalock Belton, Peggy Austin, Kay Priddy, and Betty Hall, Co-Chiefs their Senior year, and Donna Duggins, Chief her Senior year. With such exciting events as the ordering of class rings and the memorable A Summer Place, junior-Senior, we retired for a few months of well deserved rest. Soon the long awaited day has come, the first day We can truly call ourselves Seniors. August 31, 1960 marked the start of our wonderful last year. In the past three years we have grown up. From young teenagers we have grown into young adults, we are now ready to shoulder the responsibilities that lie ahead. Thinking seriously, we picked our leaders for this our last year: jon Hunter, President, Judy King, Vice President, Kathy Worrell, Secretary, and Kay Priddy, Treasurer. Receiving honors our Senior year were Barbara West and Becky Hauser who were chosen editors of our school publi- cations, the LARENIM and the Beacon. Officers of the Key Club were Don Ferguson, President, Larry Rhodes, Vice President, Larry Owens, Secretary, and Lanny Owens, Treasurer. The Senior Anchor Club Officers were President, Cheryl Wilson, Secretary, Bonnie Parker, and Chaplain, Eleanor Bell. Honors received by others were Senior Superlatives, induction into the Key Club, Anchor Club, and National Honor Society. Events to be remembered include our Homecoming Game victory over Walkertown. On October 7, 1960, a big question was in the minds of Peggy Austin, Brenda Holland, Eleanor Bell, and Donna Duggins, Senior candidates for Homecoming Queen. The question was answered during the half-time activities when Donna Duggins was crowned Queen. Eleanor Bell received the honor of Library Queen her Senior year. Other events were the choosing of Class DayOfficers, Mascots, ordering of invitations, receiving our class rings, and being measured for our caps and gowns. Now finally we are here, standing on the threshold of a new and different way of life. Looking back we will truly miss the clanging of locker doors, the rumble of steps on the stairway, the jumble in the lunchroom, the tests and exams, and all the ballgames and social get- togethers we have had, but naw we have bigger and more fulfilling experiences to look forward to. Our lives will be filled with happiness and tears, we have only to wait DONNA DUGGINS and trust in the One who has guided us over these many years. In our hearts we will always know that The Earth is Our Pathway and God is our Guide. 59 Historian . WVM, M,.n, A AQ MMM, ,M, A v k.., A . .,.,., 4? ..A... ,,,,, .
