Brenda Castloo, an accomplished twirler, performs the duties of her rank with dignity and poise. Director Buddy Ryland reports this the most successful year in the history of the school. The eighty-piece organization has gained recognition, not only from athletic fans who heard and saw weekly performances at the football games, but also from people in surrounding communities, whoacclaimthe musicians one of the outstanding bands in East Texas. Through cooperation with fellow band members and the director, each member shared proudly in a First Division rating at Marching Contest. Proudly leading the band are seven First Place twirlers. All have won gold medals in twirling contests. Dixieland Band Adding variety to the music department are Stanley Mallory, alto sax, Bobbie Ballard, tenor sax, John English, trumpet, Bobby Noton, drums, Bobby Mooring, bass fiddle, D'Nard Arthur, clarinet, Jeanene Charles, trombone, Margaret Starnes, piano. Emwl,-4a ' Band Officers: Bill Holden, Librarian, Cecile Bronsell, Treasurer, Margaret Rowe, Secretary, Jeanene Charles, President, Stanley Mallory, Vice-Pres- ident. Stage Band V' Popular in their magnificent style of music. The Debs: Ruth Wilson, Glenda Oxford, Wanda Thompson cfm! Zia! Music has been a part of the curriculum for the First time in several years. Under the direction of Miss Joanna Starnes, the club entertains at civic clubs, school assemblies and public programs. Twice each year the Chorus presents a public concert ofa variety of types of music-- from religious and classical to folk and Dixie- land. Out of this organization comes two talent- ed groups--a girls' trio and a boys' quartet. Boys' Quartet: Wayne Cannon, Ronnie Fowler, Tommy West, Jimmy Kinney. , .
