High School Administration MR. PAUL FLANZER— Principal Do you remember when you were a ninth grader and a senior pushed ahead of you on the lunch line? What about the time when a teacher bawled you out for something you didn’t do and said you were impertinent for talking back? How about that feeling of triumph when you finally got a high grade in your worst subject? Good or bad. these were experiences that shaped your character and personality. As you go on from Mineola High School to other endeavors, it will become increasingly apparent that it is not the names, dates and formulas that were important in school, but rather your experi- ences with different ideas and people. In one way or another, we try to pattern our life styles and behavior according to values we ac- quire or people we admire. Our likes, dislikes, reactions and aspira- tions are tied to these collective experiences. Why does one person get more from something like a trip to Europe or an auto race than another? Isn’t it because our present enjoyment is always tempered by our previous experience? A knowledge of art and history will sharpen our appreciation of Eu- rope; a knowledge of cars will increase our delight in auto racing. Experiences are like mental hooks to which other experiences are added. And it is this chain of experiences which strengthens our ability to see. to understand and to enjoy. If you doubt this, think about why you truly appreciate a good football game and why your grandmother may not. The message then is to value all your experiences and make the most of them. Consciously add to your storehouse of knowledge and to your value system. I sincerely hope that your stay at Mineola High School has given you important experiences that will enhance your future life. May it be a life filled with happiness and fulfillment. Paul Flanzer MR. ARTHUR HERRFORTH — Assistant Principal MR. FRED PILKINGTON — Assistant Principal MR. ALPHONSE RATTO — Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs 19
