JANUARY 1948 Boots SEPTEMBER 1945 brought an influx of fresh- men that was quite different from the con- ventional worried, bewildered crop of underdogs. Instead, the class of June 1948 was a group of junior sophisticates who defied the juniors and seniors, quickly became acquainted with the in- ner sanctum of Mr. Sloat's office, and otherwise found their own way in the labyrinth that Mineola High is to most incoming frosh. Naturally these students entertained a preco- cious interest in the extra-curricular activities of the school. Consequently they are already be- ginning to be known in the circles of music, sports and journalism, as well as that of detention. The more experienced class of January 1948 is well established in the social life of the after- three hours. Members of that class are J.V. basket- ball stars, musical virtuosos, twirlers, cheerleaders, football prospects and newspaper aces. They have become acquainted with the upper-classmen and have learned the value of friendship'with the faculty, a prerequisite of success in high school. These students have already had experiences that will become fond memories before the culmina- tion of their high school careers. JUNE 1948
