EIGHTH GRADE HISTORY Long Long ago in the year 1944 thirty-three scared but happy young pupils entered the Minatare Grade School Of these thirty-three students only 1 Ioellen Schwartzkopf remain to graduate from the eighth grade Young and pretty Miss Mary Howard was our first teacher Our first grade teacher was Mrs Mildred Ruden Her son Stanley was also a mem- ber of our first grade class In the second grade our teacher was Mrs Cara Struxness and she helped us give Thanksgiving play We were proud of our pilgrim costumes Our first operetta was Jack in the Beanstalk Jerrie Marrrll Billy Schmick Merle Van Winkle and Larry Kolb joined us in the third grade to have Miss Margaret Anderson for our teacher We learned our multrplr cation tables up to tens This year we took part in the operetta Pinocchrp Mrs Alice Helmick welcomed us in the fourth grade Shirley Wickard and Kenton Schaub again enlarged our class Sunny of Sunnyside was our operetta that year Helmick tried hard to teach us long division Tommy Gabel Vonda Smith Darlene Eskam Gary Cooper John Brlley and Larry Hulbert Joined our little clan in the fifth grade Mrs Ebba Schumacker taught us our fractors Sharon Nelson and Larry Hulbert had the leading parts in the operetta Sleeping Beauty which was the fust given in the new auditorium In the sixth grade we had our first man teacher who was Mr Glen Johns Larry Hul bert left us but returned again in the last part of the sixth grade The Land of Dreams Come True was our operetta Decimals were our arm that year We were all very happy when our report cards were passed out the last time permitting us to enter the seventh grade Entering the seventh grade we found Mrs Cooper and Mrs Schuman for our teachers We were very happy to attend school in the high school building We had two one act plays Laurel Bartow Donald Kiesel and Gene Yokomizo joined our class The exams scared us but we passed to the eighth grade In the eighth grade Mrs Schuman and Mr Cooper were again our teachers We were Joined by Evelyn Kilthau Janice Vogel Howard Vogel Jean Morse David Hernandez Robert Hauff and Glen Frailey This year we had three one act plays We chose our class motto which was 54 Here We Come, flower yellow rose and the Yokomizo and Jo Ellen Schwartkopf -l 0 I I .
