645444 Qfwtofzy On Sept 5 1938 twenty nine child prodrgles began their march through the pub lic school system of Mtnatare, Nebraska Of these, however twenty two fell by the way wayside Qmovedj Seven survived and are with us today having graduated upon com pletron of their sentence er a course They are Ellen Marrill Donna Hoff, Sonny LaFon, James Schuman Allan Evans, Ava Lou Birdsall and Eugene Mowry Miss Stegar had the honor of rnstructmg this fine group in Kindergarten, and also orgamzed a rhythm? band The band was attrred in whrte slacks and red capes In the first and second grades the class was taught by Miss Nicholas and Miss Trep tow We learned to count to a thousand and how to add and subtract Too band we forgot how We worked our way on through grade school learned how to sing act in operettas spell paint and the usual things that are expected of proper little chtldren Dorothy Brackman Joined us in the fifth grade We entered Junior high and took rt right in strrde Some of our present members Upon graduation from Junior high we rested for a summer preparrng ourselves fo the task of takrng over the hrgh school Upon entering high school we were Joined by Norman Zeller Bill Prmce Amold Kramer Wylma Kramer Robert Colprtts Jim Chrrstman Bob I-lmman Lotuse Goss Marion Wise, and Doris Huck The class chose the following officers to preside for the year Sonny LaFon, President Melvm Fertig Vice Pres and Vrckt Franco Sec Treasurer We held the usual round of parties etc The Sophomore class was our next step Dick Vandel Ruth Sterkel and Patty Dunn Joined our ranks and we elected the following officers V1ck1 Franco President Virgil Hudson, Sec Treasurer I Dean Smith, Vrce Pres Several of the boys came 1nto prominence rn athletics and the girls took part in the pep club I namely Jimmy Lodes and Virgil Hudson joined us in the eighth grade, . . . .
