ig!!! 67446 60144 Wading In 1942 about twenty f1ve frve year olds Jomed the krndergarten Of these only Mary Ann Bastron Mary Ann Brackman, Norman Jay Julra Patlan, and Bruce Youmans are rn our class Mrs Alrce I-lelmtck was our teacher the ftrst semester and the second semester Mrss Hayford was We all belonged to the rhythm band and really enjoyed rt We also learned to punt our names read and say our alphabet Rosetta Kerkam and Pete Lopez Jorned our class tn the frrst grade Mrss Galaway was our teacher We leamed to read more and to add In the second grade Carolrne Schmtck came That year we had about srx or seven teachers because our frrst teacher Mxss Daegeforde had an tllness After the frrst se mester of dtfferent teachers we went to school to f1nd Mtss Chtsholm, our teacher for the rest of the year We leamed to subtract that year In the thtrd grade Carolrne left u and Jantce Schwrndt, Dxck Regester, Jesse Mo ralez and Verna Brehm Jomed us Our teacher was Mrs Bohn We leamed to multr ply that year and had workbooks to match our readtng books Mrs Altce I-lelmrck was our teacher agatn rn the fourth grade Mary Ann Brack man went to Idaho and Caroltne came back to us We could Jorn band and were rn our ftrst operetta Jack n the Beanstalk In the ftfth grade Donald Rem Jxmmte Trowbrxdge and Judy Nuss entered Our teacher was Mrs Schumacher The operetta Ptnochro was grven Mary Ann Brackman came back to our group rn the srxth grade Don Cox enrolled Our teacher was Mrs Esther Sage We gave a party for her b1rthday Mr Ftelds dr rected the operetta Sunny of Sunnysrde Jo Ann Lofrng Jo Deen Baltes Gary Schaub, Ebartsto and Monlca Herrera, Co rtnne Mrkkleson, Ernest Magdaleno, Ralph and Dora Camartllo Jotned our class tn the seventh grade We gave a George Washrngton Mr Cooper b1rthday party on Feb 22 Thts was our ftrst year tn Jr Hrgh so we were a lrttle frrghtened by Mr Cox, Mr Rockafellow and the htgh school people, but after scoldtngs, slaps, and lectures we set tled down to stay for a wh1le We decorated for the erghth grade graduatton and were very proud of our work reven rf rt dtd leave our treasury broke In the Etghth grade Pete Aschenbrenner and Shtrley Bullock Jotned us We wrote and presented a pageant on Nebraska hrstory We had a party for the seventh grade rn the begtnntng of the year, a Chnstmas party, and a February dancrng party After a struggle through tests and studres we are now ready to be happy freshmen of Mmatare I-hgh School n I I . We would lrke you to look ahead wrth us Pete Aschenbrenner and hrs wrfe Mary Ann Brackman are on therr annual vaca tron trrp rn a new red convertrble Pont1ac Crursrng along at an easy 120 they were stopped by a traffrc cop and much to therr surprrse they found rt to be none other than Donald Rern At Coral Gables Florrda they stopped to do some deep sea frshrng Sarlrng by one of the prers they saw Gary Schaub just completrng hrs catch of mrnnows for the day On to Key West for a rest at the mansron of Ralph Camarrllo and Iulra Patlan where they had retrred after rnventrng a method for freezrng crab meat Gorng north they drove by a carnrval whrch had a frre eater as IIS marn attractron Thrs proved to be Jesse Moralez In New York Crty they found Norman Jay guardrng the Holland Tunnel They then went to the atr port to see the Unrted Arrlmes come rn As the Stewardess stepped off they found xt to be Cormne Mrkkleson One evenrng they went to the opera and whom should they see but JoDeen Baltes a soprano accompanred by Monrca Herrera and Dora Camerrllo On a lrttle farm rn Connectrcut they vrsrted Verna Brehm and her three sets of twms Drrvrng on to Chrcago they prcked up a hrtch hrker who was Ebarrsto Herrera on hrs way to vrsrt Capt Ernest Magdaleno at Fort Ord Calrf Stopprng at therr old home town of Mrnatare they found Carolrne Schmrck and Jo Ann Lofrng teachers of the '7th and 8th grades of Mrnatare Jr Hrgh Jrmmre Trowbrrdge presrdent of the bank, and Pete Lopez runnrng the au port for helrcopters to land Gorng on to Las Vegas they saw screntrst Don Cox workrng on hrs super duper atom bomb At Santa Anrta race track Jockey Drck Regester was rrdrng rn the queen s colors on Blue Foot They went browsrng around frsherman s wharf at San Francrsco and found Bruce Youmans at a stand butterrng hot clams As Mary Ann stopped rn at My Lady s Dress Shop to buy a dress she saw Madam Ju dy Nuss frttmg nurses umforms on Rosetta Lerkam and Ianrce Schwrndt Dr Mary Ann Bastron was seerng to rt that her nurses got the correct unrforms for Cedar Haven Hos prtal They vrsrted Shrrley Bullock rn Portland, Oregon where they found her wrprng the dew off her garden of roses They returned to theu' H111 Top house on Look Out Mountarn near Denver Colo rado marvelrng at the accomplrshments of thetr former classmates 9 I 9 .
