Iuck Iamison Iohn Sutherland A unique feature this year was the Sophomore Awakening which was a dance given by the class. The committee for the dance included on its list Joyce Birkemeier, Peggy Cady, Betty Clark, lack Iamison, Doug Iones. Katherine Ann lossy. Louise Lau, Ralph Mosher. Ralph Nortell, Chris Steres, and La Veda Varley. . . . Every year Mr. Byers awards a gold trophy to the basketball player who has made the greatest percentage of baskets from the free throw line. Dale Meany received the trophy this year with 71 per cent of all baskets made. Outstanding Sophomore boys in track were Ralph Nortell and Chris Steres. with Bob Schroeder as manager. Members of the baseball team were Lee Baier. Don Davis. Dale Meany. and Ernest Thompson. The class was represented in the Debate Club by Warren Fleming. Sophomores on the Maroon staff were Iean O'Shanic and Chris Steres. The Sophomore in Cross Country was Chris Steres. Mr. Sutherland was class adviser.

Bob Simpson Treasurer . , . ,Wesley Peterson Sergeant-at-Arms Bernard Stewart Adviser , Mr. Robinett The Freshman class began its round oi activities September 29, when the freshman girls enthusiastically entered into the spirit of the Iunior Iinx which was given to acquaint the girls oi the Iunior and Freshman classes. Also a freshman girls' club was organized with Frances Yoshitomi as presi- dent. On the council for the club were Betty Brown, Betty Lou Carlson, Pat Doersch, Pat Geil, Frances Halterty, Suzanne Hicks, Lorraine Hoy, Fannie Kingsbury, Nina Maxwell, Barbara Prior, Iean Seida. and Frances Yoshitomi. Betty Fletcher and Ernest Berg were two of the class who displayed their talents in the Iunior Iamboree. Nina Maxwell participated in the Thalian- Footlighter Pay Assembly. Freshmen appearing on the honor roll were Betty Brown and Barbara Prior. Kathryn Farrington was vice-president of Footlighters. Other freshman members were Dorothy Baier, Norma Brickey, Vada Davis, Helen Foumal, Iesse Garner, Pat Geil, Lorraine Hoy, Fannie Kingsbury, Helen Maloney, Rae Arlene Wheeler, Betty Strauss. Ida Graves, Iean Lawrence, Evelyn Cameron, Pat Doersch, and Nina Maxwell. Robert Simpson, Wesley Peterson, and Owen Street were freshmen who received letters lor athletics. Harold Elder, Robert Gribble and Bernard Stewart were on the baseball team. Freshmen in Cross Country were Ray Craig, Harold Elder and Iess Garner. Boys on the track team were Iunior Street and Roderick Faulk. Nina Maxwell and Pat Geil were active in Debate.
