I’LL TELL YOU WHAT’S KEEPING YOU DOWN JIM I’ll tell you what’s keeping you down, Jim, It’s the same job year after year; Though your service has been long and faithful And your record is straight and clear. 1 have thought on your case many times, Jim, And of what 1 could do for you— I’d be glad of a chaicc to promote you, But what other work can you do? There is! work to be done all around, Jim, That carries more money, and still, Of all the jobs that surround you, Is there even one you can fill? True, you’ve been working many years in service, And you’ve never been known to shirk; But what time have you spent in preparing To take up some other man’s work?
