,K . HERBERT W. OVIATT, III Bert came to us in his freshman year, and since then his good-natured smile and enviable spirit have instilled a lasting impression on the whole school. This spirit was evident in him as an athletic participant but is magnified now to a much greater extent in the role of an ardent sup- porter of all our athletic functions. In the way of activities Bert has shown an equal interest in the glee club. His booming bass voice has added volume to the small second-bass section. Bert has also been a great help to the class of '48, for he has served on many committees. We feel that his unbounded will and determination will lead him on to ultimate success. LUTHER L. PAINE In the one year that Louie has been at Country Day, he has easily painted himself into the school picture. This talented young man has surprisingly braved C.D.'s stormy path in spite of his rough academic course. Through hard work and ad- vantageous poundage he managed to get a foot- ball letter, and he withstood the cold on the hockey team this winter. His fine tenor voice has been a splendid addition to the glee club, and we have heard reports that he can blow a fine horn . Records and music are his hobby. His jovial man- ner and conscientious attitude have carried him far .it CLD., .ind we know they will continue to do so .it both St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota.

MYRON LASKIN Ron-Ron is one of the intellectuals at Country Day. He entered CD. in his freshman year and has been on the honor roll consistently ever since. Ron has managed the finances of the Ledger this year with constant efficiency. In the winter he is a member of that lusty group of blood-thirsty young men-Senior Leagues. Ronny has a true interest in things cultural: music, art, and liter- ature. Attending all the fine symphony concerts Milwaukee has to offer, Ron evaluates the per- formances with the critical mind of a connoisseur. He also has an interest in world politics and enjoys discussing events at home and abroad. Come Sep- tember, Ron-Ron hopes to be at home in the Harvard Yard. . 157' gf EMERSGN W. NOYES Emerson is one of those boys whom people can- not help liking. He is one of the very few re- maining members of the kindergarten class from which our present class has grown. Em can probably talk faster than any other boy in the schoolg for he has kept many an English, Latin, and German class in an uproar with his high speed oratory. He must think we are all deaf, for we are always saying what? every time he opens his mouth. His notorious adventures with the ladies and his ability to get in and out of more scrapes ought to make very good listening 10 years hence. As yet Em is a little uncertain about his future, but in whatever he chooses, he is bound to be successful.

MAURICE J. REUTER, JR. Probably the most widely known member of our class is Maurie Reuter. His amazing abilities in the field of sports and his undying friendliness have accounted for this fact. Mouse seems to have something really extra-specialg all the women seem to flock to him. The exploits of this lad on the gridiron have become almost legendary, but to the unbeaten, untied team of this year they are a reality. Maurie showed wonderful spirit and leadership throughout this year's football season, and he has shown almost amazing improvement in school work. We are sure that wherever Maurie goes to college he will be a success both in his work and among his fellow students. OLAF I. ROVE If any of Ole's friends have ever had trouble with their cars, he has been more than happy to lend a helping hand, Offy has the reputation for say- ing the wrong thing at the right time. His antics in class and his drawings before class have been considerably enjoyable to all of us. It has been only in the last year or two that Ole has come into his own. However, he has made a place for himself in our class doings. His loose-jointed walk and loping run have become a familiar sight around the School upon the Hill. No matter where he decides to further his education, Ole will be favorably accepted.
