JOSEPH A. CUTLER, III joe is renowned for his virtuosity as a most cordial host. His friendly manner and red hair are known throughout the school and are a sure sign of a congenial comrade. In the winter he risks life and limb playing in the notorious Senior Leagues. For the last four years joe has added his melodious talented voice to the glory of the glee club. He has also graciously given his time and effort to- wards the financial success of the Arrow. He served as head of the committee in charge of the decorations for the very successful junior Prom. Possessing a rare interest in art, he was well- qualified for the job, joe is headed for Princeton, come fall, and we all wish him luck. HERMAN E. FRENTZEL, III Herman came to us in his sophomore year and immediately became one of the leaders of his class, which is verified by the fact that he was elected to the student council and then appointed to the office of prefect in his senior year. Herm is very well versed in matters dealing with politics and current events, and it is a rare sight to find him free from any sort of discussion on those subjects. Maintaining a commendable scholastic average Herm was one of the leaders of his class. As far as athletics were concerned Herm reserved his talents for track and the 880, in which capacity he did a very excellent job. Wherever he may go, he has our best wishes for a bright future.

RICHARD j. CRITTENDEN Dick has won the position of one of the most forthright members of the class. His slow, logical way of explaining things makes him a very easy person to listen to. Critt has been a very hard- working editor of the Ledger. and he has proved himself very capable in this line. Dick has a very sensible view about the student council, as he does about everything. Dick's greatest ability lies in his scholarshipg he had maintained an honor roll average for four years. Tennis is his strong point in sports. Having played on the team since his freshman year, he was made captain for his senior year. Dick will attend Williams next year, and we know that he will do very well. STEPHEN M. CUSHMAN, JR. Marsh's quiet, tranquil manner and his residence in Racine make him a mystery man to most of the class. What his activities are on his week- ends, no one will ever know: but, however, we have found that inside his casual exterior lie a passion for hunting and a remarkable sense of humor. Everything seems to go easily for Marsh, and it seems that there is nothing that he cannot take in his stride. j.V. and touch football have usually occupied his afternoons in the fall, while Senior League basketball and track are his re- spective fortes in winter and spring. Chess and ritle club have consistently taken up his activity periods. VC'e wish him the best of luck at Ripon next year.

DANIEL B. GUTE Gutie has been with the class of '48 since his freshman year, and in those four eventful years he has moulded for himself an excellent reputa- tion. He has contributed his many talents to every phase of school life and has gone about his tasks in a very conscientious manner. Scholastically, Dan is up with the leaders. His jobs with the Arrozz' and Ledger have been many, but his greatest achievement in this line was his appointment as Arrou' editor. Dan has also done himself proud in athletics, for he has been on the football squad for the last two years and has taken part in basket- ball and tennis. All in all Dan is well on his way to success. Good luck at Northwestern, Danny. BRUCE A. I-IANSON Withotxt that modern means of transportation, known as the automobile, Boston's life would be unbearable. We think he knew how to drive when he was born, but Wisctxnsin's statutes sort of cramped his style. There is nothing he likes better than the task of usouping up a stock V-8. Another one of his outside interests is music, for he is not only an accomplished artist at the piano but also a great enthusiast of modern music. Be- sides these outside activities he also manages to attend school. lf he could not drive there, we do not think he would come at all. ln athletics Bruce has been a member of the -I.V.'s and of the hockey squad. Next year his black convertible will be rolling over Northwesterns campus. Good luck. Boston.
