Excitement bubbled as the gala affairs of the 1967 Homecoming festivities commenced on Friday, October 20. Preceding the actual Homecoming ceremony, a glorious parade, entertaining throngs of people, advanced through town. Leading the parade was the colorful band followed by the spirited cheerleaders. Raising many oo's and ah's from the specta- tors was the beautiful float, decorated with red and white tilted champagne glasses made from paper flowers with multi-colored balloons foating above. On the side was our theme, Cheers to M-U. Graciously waving and smil- ing to the crowd, the lovely queen candidates completed the decorations. Upon reaching the campus the tenseness and excitement reached a peak as the attractive attendants and candidates were escorted onto the memorial field by the football players. ,lust prior to the announcement of Homecoming Queen, the traditional hush fell over the crowd and then the proclamation was made, The 1967 Homecoming Queen is JOY MIN- NICHV' As the tears flowed freely down ,loy's cheeks, Carolyn Morter, former queen, placed the daz- zling crown upon her head and presented her with a dozen long-stemmed roses. After Queen Joy was heartily congratulated by her family and friends, she and her court relaxed to watch the band perform a spectac- ular half-time show- A Salute to Broadwayn' -and the Milton-Union Bulldogs defeat the Eaton Eagles 12 to 6. Following the game the alumni and students adjourned to the gymnasium, appropriately decorated with beautiful fall scenes, to enjoy the music of the Marauders.
