SOCIAL STUDIES CREATE . J ZYQMVJ Understanding this world in which we live is the purpose of the social studies department. Senior students learn the present-day functions of a demo- cratic government, and endeavor to develop their knowledge of American social, economic, and poli- i 5 tical life. Juniors receive'a better understanding of America's history as do the Sophomores on the world's history. At Milton-Union the social studies department attempts to develop a spirit of patriotism and loyal- ty to one's country. These American history students take notes as Mr. Long explains the map of the United States and its history. Mr. Ballinger checks Barb Tinnerman's civics notebook which is kept up to date with each new chapter.
