' . -30- Fourth Row 1 ll X The Future Homemakers Assocla t1on IS a state Wlde organ1zat1on for students ln Homemaklng The organ lzatdon has a purpose to provlde a medlum for extra curricular work ln Homemaklng to provide for organized SOC13l act1v1t1es to help the girls to recognlze the value of worthy home membershlp and to pYOV1d9 oppor tunltles for leadershlp The local chapter of the Future Homemakers Association was organ 1Z6d two years ago This fall the membership lncluded twenty four members then after the spring 1n1t1a tion of Freshmen and other new mem bers the enrollment was fifty four members Our oilicers lnclude Gene vleve Everson president Phyllls Arne son vice presldent Shirley Carroll secretary Carolyn Burdlck treasurer Joyce Slverly hlstorlan Miss Mlllems IS the advlser ACtlVlt19S of the organlzatlon are many Last August some of the girls entered the Pra1r1e Farmer Demon stratlon contest Genevleve Everson and Shlrley Carroll worked out a dem onstratlon together on the Drylng of Food for Wartlme Use They received S15 00 1n prize money at the contest at Lake Geneva and took the demon stratlon to the State Falr 1n West Allis oiothy Deiounr. HI 0 1 N and received S10 00 there Several girls are plann1ng on enterlng the contest agaln this year to be held ln Stoughton in April Our soclal act1v1t1es lncluded sev eral parties with the Future Farmers In October the girls 1nv1ted the boys to a Scavanger Hunt with lunch and dancing following Seve1al of the eve nlng meetmgs were held as Jolnt meetings w1th a SOCIHI hour or with a program followed by a SOCIHI hour In March the glrls held a skating party 1n Whltewater MISS Ann Kyle County Home Demonstratlon Agent attend ed the December meeting and held a workshop on sweater darnlng The St Patrick s Day Dance was an all school dance sponsored by the F H A ln March Last summer the girls were very active 1n both the state and county fairs Margaret Boynton and Marcia Raukuce entered suits ln the State Fair and won first place on them Dorothy DeYoung won a second on her suit Marcia and Mary Ann Weldmer entered much of the1r cannlng and received a prize on each entry There were many other prizes on the clothlng and handlcraft d1v1s1ons There were about one hundred and thirty entries in the county falr 1n Janesvllle also
